I love Donnelly Elementary because when my child and I walk through door every morning, we know we just entered a small community of kindness, respect, and devotion to high standards of achievement. I wouldn't send my child to any other school.

I think you are being a little harsh in your rating of Donnelly Elementary School. I don't know how you get your star rating, because according to the standardized tests we do better than many of the larger schools in Boise, and compare well against the charter schools. When the PTO hosts family/community nights, the gym is packed with mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents, and local business people. If a teacher needs classroom help, there are always dozens of parents willing to volunteer. Our after school programs have 2-3 times the number of children involved as the near by school that is twice as large. The teachers all respect eachother as well as the students. We could send our children to the larger school 10 miles away that has better playground equipment, but we choose Donnelly Elementary because the staff cares about each child. I really think we deserve 8 stars.

I'm sorry but I think your rating system is way off. You give this school a 4. My daughter who is in first grade reads on a 3rd grade level. Her spelling list contains words like forest and bubble. I ask friends from other states what words on their spelling tests and they say words like cat and bat. The tests are useless. Great Schools needs to go to the schools. We have small classrooms lots of tutors, devoted teachers and a fabulous librarian. Your rating is a slap in the face to our entire community.
