Holy Spirit is "big" enough to offer music, art, PE, etc., and social variety for the kids, but it is "small" enough that most of the teachers in grades K-7 will know your kids by first name. We feel like a whole community is instructing and caring for our children as a result. The usual trimmings of uniforms and spiritual instruction are included, but students of all faiths are welcome and comfortable. Many of the professors at the local university (ISU) have their children there and many of those are "international" which gives the student body a nice flair. The physical set-up is such that most parents come in to the school to pick up their children through 3rd or 4th grade (parents' choice--you can continue to do that through 7th if you want!), so a brief daily check-in with the teacher can easily be part of your routine. Most importantly, the school just happens to have great "mo jo" in the kindness/community department. The kids are close, but there seem to be virtually no intimidating cliques, bullies, "mean girls," etc., etc. that so many parents in the 21st Century are worried about.

We just completed our first year with two children at HSCS. The Kindergarten is over the top exceptional! We are looking forward to having all three of our sons enrolled next year. What a difference from the local public schools. Great programs, parent involvement, community spirit, teacher quality and accessibility! After attending both public and another local private school, we are so glad to have found HSCS!

My children started at HSCS last year. They are both doing very well. HSCS has excellent academic standards--check out their ISAT scores for the 2005-2006 school year.
