Lake Pend Oreille Alternative High School

This school has amazing teachers and strong school leadership, so in those aspects it's a phenomenal school. However, it seems to "dumb down" the curriculum. The classes are ridiculously easy. I understand that it caters to students who would otherwise drop out but in all honesty, passing a GED would be harder than graduating from LPOHS. I went to Sandpoint High School and had the opportunity to see what students from LPOHS were learning- it was basically middle school level. I was taught that if you set expectations high, people will rise to meet them. These students aren't stupid but the dumbed down curriculum treats them like they are.

a place to come to do what needs to be done- Getting that diploma, the hard, well fought for, and feeling the Pride and Joy by at last having the Diploma in HAND!!!

i think this school rocks!!!.. i went there and now my daughter does... they still have the same friendy people. im glad this school is still around

I am actually not a parent. I am a Past student...Class of 1997. If not for this High School I wouldn't have graduated. I had personal one on one help from my teachers, counselors, and principal. I will never forget my time at LPO High.
