The quality of teachers district 4 has is above all. Lake Park Elementary has done an outstanding teaching job with my 4 children. The experience of teaching is there .I currently have a 5th and 3rd grader at Lake Park and 2 at the High School level. We have an outstanding library, the Music & Art dep. do wonders with our young ones. We have a great pond across the street were our 5th grader are able to study nature. (Nature Nerds Club) We also have after school programs for students that need a little extra help in reading (Bridges). For our parents we have a computer-learning program. Our P.T.A. is on top of things and always looking for the best of our students. Thank You Lake Park for all the wonderful years you have given our children. I will stay involved as much as can for the next 2 years.

In 2012-2013 Illinois used the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 4 and 7 in science. The ISAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

In 2013 the Illinois State Board of Education raised the performance expectations for the ISAT in reading and math. These expectations have been adjusted to better align with the Common Core State Standards, a multi-state initiative that established year-by-year guidelines outlining the grade-specific skills and content students need to stay on the path to college and career readiness. The higher expectations of the new standards will result in a downward shift of where students rank in meeting or exceeding standards.
