My child attended Kindergarten this year and I am happy about how much he has learned. We did work on some of the skills at home to reinforce them as I believe is very important. His reading and writing are great. Can't wait to see what first grade will bring!
We moved from a top rated school district in suburb south of here and we are amazed at how academically strong this school district is! Class sizes are kept small and programs are being added not cut. I was very concerned after reading some of the comments here, however I can say after spending 2 years in district 158 (with 3 children in the school district) I am very satisfied and so glad to be here. Looking forward to the upcomimg year.
I am very pleased with this school. My son is in kindergarden. Due to a disability he has I have had a lot of interaction with administrators and support services in addition to the faculty. I can say everyone is stellar and really truly cares about my son and his academic success. My son has grown tremendously this year!
This is my second child but the first through Mackeben. I can tell you that they do a great job with the students and parental concerns. My daughter could read by the time kindergarten was completed.
Disappointing in overall student assessments and inclusion of those who don't fit the 'one size' category. Teachers that we've worked with seem very apathetic about actually helping students instead of just teaching from rote.
My child has attended this school for K & 1. The two teachers have been excellent, and we couldn't be happier.
Teachers have narrow scope. Administration doesn't know how to effectively deal with parental concerns. Some children are being left far behind because of the one-size-fits-all teaching agenda. So many children with learning issues that are not being addressed. This school is awful!
I think this school has done a great job with my youngest daughter who is in kindergarten.
This is my oldest daughter's kindergarten year...and I am amazed at how wonderful this school is. Half way through the school year, she had already begun reading...on her own! Terrific teachers & staff!
Wonderful school. Staff is awesome.
