was rank as one of the best high schools in america according to the Us World & News Report
honestly, i am going to be a junior after this summer. i make almost straight As with no discipline record or history of drugs or alcohol, and i am not too fond of this school. the way they make our lives feel regulated and meaningless causes alot of depression in me. there is alot of drug use in the school, fighting, that 'teen drama' were so fond of, the staff do not seem like they care about the well being of these students, and whats worse is these kids arent even aware of the problem that this school really is/ is causing. it has ways to go before they can live up to the top schools in the nation acheivement that they cling desperately to.
Alton High is a great learning environment! I'm especially proud of The Alton Marching 100 Band! These kids really work their butts off to be excellent for competitions!! The dedicated volenteers fund raise like crazy. We could really use some help! Thanks
I am a sophomore at Alton High.I love the amount of music programs they offer here. There is a club for evey student and our class president is great.Alton High has many things to offer.I have gotten along with every teacher and administrater i have talked to and I have learned so much my freshmen year.Alton High school made me come out of my shell,I use to be a very shy person but being here at this school made me realize that everyone has problems and things they dont like about them selves.
Best place to spend 4 years of my life. Teachers are wonderful and friendly and its a great learning environment.
One of my granddaughters graduated last spring, and another is a Sophomore at Alton. They moved from CA 3 years ago, and all I can say is that they improved with attitude toward learning, proving it could be done. The graduate actually finished a semester early, where she was dropping grades out here. Different area, different attitude, different goals, and no doubt different parental involvement that goes beyone 'cater to my child'. Thanks so very much, Grateful Grammy
I am a graduate of Alton High School, and I truly think it is a great school for a student willing to take advantage of the opportunities it offers. When I left, we had the best music program in the state and the number four math department. There are a great number of courses available, particularly through the Honors program. There are at least a dozen AP courses, again, if one is willing to take the time to research them, and there are dual credit courses available through the local community college. I really enjoyed my time at AHS, and would recommend it.
I go to this school, and to tell you the truth sometimes I don't feel all that safe at Alton High. It seems to me that the staff is lacking in this aspect of my school life. Sincerly, A concerned student
