I love this school. I actually go to this school and everyone is really nice. I am in seventh grade and all the teachers are fairly AWESOME. hahaha. Anyway, the teachers are all pretty nice, but some have a bit of a problem with favoritism. The kids there are all friends with each other, too. We also do a lot to help the community. We have food drives, donations to animal shelters, and so many other cool things. I love this place!

I have one child at Emmons and we have 4 hrs of stress. They have teachers who care and they have ones who don't and they outnumber the good teachers. As a parent if you don't show concern or interest for your child some teachers won't either, you won't receive information unless you ask. Bullying is a big issue at Emmons and their guidelines are biased. Kindergarten teacher,2nd grade and 4th grade teachers are fabulous. First and especially 3rd grade teachers are horrible. On the plus, they teach the kids to give back to the community and have been trying to teach tolerance. And I do like that it's a small school, about 15-20 kids a class.

This is a rare school indeed. Many of the teaching staff and aides live in the district! At most grade levels there are only two teachers. That makes it possible to get to know just about all the teachers in the school and to know what to expect! The children stay together from K thru 8th grade so there is continuity and consistency. The principal, Dr. Machek is also the superintendent! And he goes over and beyond the call of duty to make Emmons a world-class learning institution! My three children have attended Emmons since 2004 and I couldn't be happier!

I am very happy with the experiences my children have had overall at this school. The teachers have been caring and involved. Feedback is provided via weekly newsletters, E:Mails, Testing Reports, Grades and Parent Teacher conferences. This is a school where all children are encouraged to participate. There are lots of opportunities for exploring their gifts and abilites. Sports, Chess Club, Band, Chorus, Yearbook, Field Trips, Roller Skating, Ski Club Drama, Artist in Residence program, etc. The children are also encouraged to give back to the community, through May Day baskets, food drives, a giving tree and raising money to send to students to school in third world countries to name a few. It's a great school. There is a concern for the child's developement as a whole not just academically.

I have one daughter, now in second grade. I believe that the teachers need to do a better job in communicating, providing feedback regarding student development in the lower grades. Not just at parent/teacher conferences. Students who appear to get various recognition in newsletters, and other school printouts, are the children of parents who either volunteer or sub at the school. If a parent will take the initiative to call or email the teachers, it seems that student will get attention in class not previously received. However, I have found everyone in the school to be very friendly.

Emmons Grade School is a very small K-8th school. The teachers my children had this year were very intuned to my children and really cared about their well being and education. However, I have encountered problems both in the past and with other teachers and staff members. One issue with the school being so small is that one teachers opionion of a child could get passed on quickly to the next teacher. The teachers for the extracurricular activities teach all levels K-8 and I beleive that streches them too thin and they lose focus on the age they are working with.
