When i moved to Arlington Heights, I heard alot of good things about this school. Such as it being a very good school, lots of well educated teaches, and friendly students. The School is anything but that. The Staff is horrible, most of them do not know how to teach a class. For most of my sophomore year chemistry class, we would sit in the computer lab and play games, because are teacher did not want to teach. For most of my World History, We would watch movies almost every day of every week. The only reason this school is so popular for students passing is because they only put 1 or 2 grades in a quarter, and its not very difficult for the hardest of learning impaired students to get a A when the teachers do not teach anything. The hallways are also packed, with students having to push and shove to get threw. The Students are all ethier on drugs, or claim to be to be cool. And the school has also gone down in the list of best schools, being beat by BG and Prospect Highschools. This School has high expectations, but falls very far from what you may have heard or expect, Keep your students away for sure!

This school is against creative and talented students. Teachers ignore parents ,who want to obtain more information in order to help their children in learning problems.

Our family has had 3 graduates from Hersey. They have all succeeded at the university level. I know they miss their days at Hersey. They all have enjoyed their high school years. The teachers are in tune to the students. Whenever I needed to email a teacher they responded quickly.

I am a current student at JHHS and I have personal found that the teachers are always willing to give 100% to their students. If the student is willing to come in before/after school or even during the teachers' lunch, they will get help. The teachers are well educated and if you don't understand something, they will explain it another way until you get it. Most of the teachers have outside review sessions before tests and want to help you to succeed no matter what. The writing well has both students and teachers to help edit papers and they are all absolutely fantastic. The counselors are all willing to help adjust your schedules and help you in any way they can. The career center is always offering career treks to help you to be sure before becoming too involved. The athletics and music are both wonderful.

We had three children graduate from Hersey and we could not speak highly enough about all of our experiences with the school. The education, athletics, and staff are the best in the area. Two of my children are in the medical field and my middle daughter is a teacher & working towards her masters degree. Her father and I are very proud of them and the fantastic educational foundation that they received at Hersey to grow from.

Both our children attended Hersey and competed at a high level in the arts and in sports. Academically, high standards are set fron the get-go. The kids are expected to work at their capacity and they find a way to make it happen. From what I can see there is zero tolerance for drugs, violence and bullying. Policies are enforced.

We have had 3 kids attend Hersey. Each has had a great experience and received an excellent education. We've found the faculty and administration to to be very dedicated to their student and to quality teaching. Hersey offers a challenging college prep curriculum, with extensive advanced placement and honors courses. The opportunities for extracurricular invovlement are outstanding. Our kids were involved in a diverse array of activities, including one of the state's premier band programs, an award-winning Junior Naval ROTC program, Scholastic Bowl, Service over Self, and golf. Despite its size, we found a nurturing community atmosphere among faculty and parents at Hersey. Hersey's reputation for overall excellence is well-known at the major midwestern universities our children have been admitted to. In short, Hersey is a terrific high school.

I am a current student at Hersey and if you are are thinking about sending your child here, you totally should. The teachers are great here and are very involved with us students. They are available for help before/after school. There are many courses available in every field. The music program is very good. Hersey's marching band came in 2nd in the state this year. Varsity volleyball won the division, as did boys varsity soccer. Our badmittion coach won 2005 State's best coach. There are lots of parents involved. The Athletic booster Club raises most of our money for things! I'm a freshman this year and my experience has been amazing!

John Hersey High School is a very good school. I brought up 3 kids who all attended Hersey, and they could not be any happier. Furthermore, the test scores are higher than not only the state's but the district's aswell. Overall, I think Hersey is one of the greatest schools in the area.

The teachers and counselors here have taken enormous amounts of time to help my son adjust to high school. He has had difficulty with completing homework since the second grade. They have helped him tremendously in this area. They really seem to care about the individual student as much as the whole.

In 2011-2012 Illinois used the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) to test students in grade 11 in reading, math and science. The PSAE is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
