Complete lack of parental involvement and therefore accountability for their children's success in education in this area. The same parents appear over and over, and the ones that are absent, stay absent. It makes no sense why were are zoned to go here since we are so much closer to Gombert, but I suspect it's the local gov't way of keeping the district's 2 title 1 elementary schools all together in populus. I drive my kid (even though we're on a bus route) b/c of the troublemakers on the bus. SO many kids are SO behind in this school b/c parents aren't involved or choose not to learn English and therefore cannot help their students. It's so sad for those kids. I can, however, say that the teachers there are for the most part just phenomenal. they really do care about these kids and their success. I really like the principal as well. She is very involved. Fortunately, my son is performing well because education is highly valued here at home, and that's where this school fails: it's the parents. SO much of education at this age starts and ends at home. Wake up, parents! You do your children a great disservice by not being the biggest part of their education from very early on.

Students can be challenged a little more. Some teachers have the perfect expectation. Pleasant attitude and demeaneour through out the school. Parents regulary involved and many ask to volunteer during class activities.

Georgetown has wonderful teachers and great programs. The parents definitely need to be more involved in the PTA and with their own children's education. Mr. Steve Selle (principal) is always available to handle any issues.
