It is a great school. Is not perfect , but have a lot of great students and the school ofered incentive for the good kid's. I understand the lack of parents involvement is that parent don't feel welcome by the teachers. It could be the language barrier. In general is a great place to learn.

Academic programs are overshadowed by social problems of the students and the neighborhood. Lots of bullying at the school, and it continues without serious punishment. After school activities are available, but mild character students avoid them to stay away from more bullying. Involvement in band is probably the best activity - no physical contact with others, plus the teacher has outstanding composing and teaching qualities. Teachers are used to low parent involvement, so they are not happy when an occasional involved parent appears. They use excuses that they have no ability to call the parent or e-mail due to 'bad' Internet connection. The two councilors I dealt with are absolutely useless, one of them never returned e-mails.

Simmons, on the whole, is an excellent school where teachers and administrators work hard to help students achieve success. There is still work to be done and growth to be achieved, but for the most part it is a great place to send your kids!

Simmons is a very good school, even though it is represented as a bad one. I am a 7th grade honors student there. I'm in volleyball, computer club, and student council. My teachers are excellent, and I rarely have any problems.
