Aviston Elem. is great and well-rounded school. The students generally enjoy going to school. This school has more activities than schools in this area. From scholar bowl to sports, they are always going to state competitions. Its testing scores are among the best in the state every year. While they have gone down a little, one big reason is the vast number of new students moving into the district each year. And from my experience, most of the teachers truly care and will do whatever is needed to help.
I have noticed Aviston's test scores have dropped. Many of the scores have dropped for the last three years. As a parent of an Aviston student, I am worried. Will this trend continue? I fear it will get worse. Small class sizes do NOT create higher scores.
The school is great, except if you have a child with a disability. They do not treat the students with a disability the same as the other children. You want all children to feel equal right?
Aviston Elementary is a fastly growing school with an excellent quality of education for children Pre-K - 8th grade. Children love to attend the new school building with an addition added on in 2007. Teachers are very attentive to your childs abilities and learning capabilities. Academic programs are awesome with almost every sport available. Aviston has one of the highest ratings in the State of Illinois. Parental involvement is excellent.
This school is the best school ever. The academic programs are wonderful. The band program is by far the best in the area! The extra-curricular opportunities are also wonderful. Parent involvement is very high and parent/teacher contact is very good. Students really want to learn here. Staff & faculty are truly concerned with every child.
