I have put 3 girls through this school and couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience. The teachers and staff are extremely children focused and provide the best environment for learning. It is one of the only elementary schools in the state to show progress EVERY year on ISAT and NCLBA. I credit most of that to the Principal. When you talk to her the first thing she asks is "How does it affect the Kids and what's best for them?". How can you beat that? High Academic achievement and caring staff. All my kids have gone on the excell at otjer schools because of the foundation they have. The only parents that I have seen that did not like it were parents of trouble kids that did not like the confrontation with the administration.

LOVE Douglas! From a nationwide parental support group I belong to, I heard horror story upon horror story about their experiences dealing with schools re: IEP's and other special needs issues. I was terribly nervous as we started dealing with the public school system on these issues. However, every staff member we've worked with has been super helpful - it has truly been a team effort to make sure that every need is identified, accounted for, and managed. The school and staff have been understanding, and my child's classroom teacher especially has been extremely proactive in making sure all our i's are dotted and t's crossed... to make the experience the best it can be for the kids. I agree with an earlier post, too: Parental support is vital in any school. Douglas has a good core group of active parents, & that makes a difference :)

I have had two children in this school and it was nothing but problems. I feel the principal was not to proffessional or understanding to all kids needs. Felt as if it was one sided and not for the best interest of academic status for the children. I love Franklin and Jefferson and feel the principals are excellent...keep up the good work!!!

I think the school as a whole is OKAY at best. They do not take the extra time and attention needed for all students.

A great school providing both academic and extra curricular programs. Parent involvement is important and parents play a large roll in making this school a great place for the students. Teachers are great to work with, as well as office staff and administration. I had moved from this district to supposedly a better school district, and am now moving back!
