St. George is terrible. The discipline is awful. Bullying is a problem. Some teachers do not have good classroom management. I would not have your children attend thi school. They can't keep the same administration. Taxes pay for two superintendents when they need a full time person to deal with discipline.
While preparing for the new school year and disgarding some old papers, I noticed that when my child attended a different school in a different state, they had more HW in kindergarten than in 1st grade. Personally, I think that's quite depressing. Maybe we need to return to our previous residence if the ONLY CHOICE OF SCHOOL is this sad and pathetic one. How can you only offer one school choice in a consolidated community???
The class sizes are decent and the I-SAT scores are good. I have no complaints about this school. The teachers and administration are great at communicating and are always looking for input. I know my son is attending a safe school.
Ive gone to this school since I was in 3rd grade, and I am now in 8th. I'm so happy that this is my last year here. I get in trouble for the STUPIDEST things. I got a detention earlier this year for using a calculator on an algebra MAP test. Whats worse, is that I had asked to get the calculator, and the teacher had said yes. After she saw me using it, she gave me detention and said that "she thought i was using it for math homework". It was the dumbest thing ever, and I honestly hate this school more than i have ever hated anything before. Most of the teachers are OK, but some of them think that because theyre teachers, theyre better than the students and its ridiculous. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE,
My oldest child started K here with the partially new administration. In K and 1st grade we had issues with consistent bullying and it was like pulling teeth to get the administration to address it and inform the other parent. My youngest started K this year and so far our teachers are great. There are no textbooks for our children. We had to buy our own privately. The ladies in the office are great. The school board likes to beat around the bush a lot and its hard to get answers. There's no art program. There's a new math curriculum. The facility is great. The education is good. Low parent/teacher enthusiasm/involvement outside of school hours. Being new to the district, I had a great opinion of the school. Now my opinion has plummetted to the lower end of mediocre as far as how the school is run. Wouldn't recommend. 2 1/2.
More encouraged with the new Administration and some of the new staff. Like the small school setting. Disadvantage though with sometimes small town mentalities.
Facility is great!! love the 5th grade teachers
Nice sized school. Relatively small class sizes and a nice facility. Administration has been in turmoil for several years resulting in a lack of consistent direction. Veteran teachers have continued to succeed. Newer staff members have received little guidance and are not as likely to succeed. Sports programs tend to favor boys over girls (particularly in basketball). Band is excellent. Volleyball coaching staff is very good, other sports coaches are not.
With the overwhelming growth, Administration should consider diversity training not only for the children but also for the Staff. I am impressed with the amount of communication between the schools Administrative staff and with Parents. My children appear to be learning many new things and becoming more comfortable with the transition.
St. George school still is situated among an agriculture area and offers a small town environment but enrollment numbers are growing due to the residential development nearby. The school offers an excellent learning environment with good teachers and excellent administration. Most of the facility is 3 years old and will require another school addition within the next 2 years. Sports include boys/girls basketball, girls softball, boys/girls volleyball, cross-country and cheerleading.
