Most of the teachers are doing a good job. There is a problem with favoritism among some of the administrative staff. Also, the administrative staff does not seem to want to police their own staff. Overall, I am somewhat disappointed with the high school.
I love going here. The student-teacher interaction is great because they are always willing to help u succeed. There is soo many extra curriculars its crazy, but it is amazing to see so much in a little school. The school is a great place to start out because it is a top school district and it has a wonderful acidemic rating!
Byron Schools are the best in the state of Illinois. I went to to Byron schools and now my daughter has gone through the system and is currently a junior. They offer a wide variety of student activities and extra-curriculars that are top notch as well as many other great opportunities to the children of the district. I wouldn't have my child going anywhere else. Great faculty and good leadership.
The Middle School's lack of communication with parents is astonishing. Phone calls, e-mails, letters are never returned. I have had to sit outside the principles office to try and 'catch' him. The academics programs are good, but while the advance math class has 6 students, the other math classes are full. Maybe the criteria is too high. Music, art and extracurricular activities are all good.
The quality of the academic programs in Byron are top-notch. Byron attracts a very dignified teaching staff that does a great job. The current principals are down to earth and have firm control overseeing their schools. They are a major highlight of this district. Byron has many extracurricular opportunities that other small schools don't have giving students opportunities you won't find at most schools. The parent involvement is decent; they are certainly reliable.
Byron is very good, students participate lots!
Strong academics with many activities (sports, theatre, music) for a small school. Moderate to strong level of parent involvement. One of the best small schools in the Rockford Area.
