I have two kids in this school this year, 5th and 6th grades. Not happy at all, teachers are emotionally involving the students with the budget cuts. It's sad that we are losing all activities that make it fun for the kids, but surely teachers are making it worse. I also have to say my 6th grader is bored to death, (he's borderline to qualify for the gifted program) I've tried discussing this with his teacher, and nothing really gets changed. He almost never has homework because he gets it done in class.

My biggest dissappointment with Prairie Hill is the poor transition from 4th to 5th grade. The expectations for maturity level and responsibility jump to Jr High levels when they should be transitioned during these two years. It has caused a great deal of frustration and anxiety among the students I am aware of. The band program is also effected by this philosophy, causing many of the students to quit band within a couple months. Band at this level should be fun, not a battle for grades. It's sad that these kids will miss out on what band has to offer.

We are disappointed with the lack of homework given. Many days he does his 'homework' at school and has none. Additionally he watches 2-3 videos a week in school. Our son is bored. Need a tougher curriculum and more dedicated teachers in Prairie Hill.

The kids are not having fun. There is nothing to look forward to. My kids had the worst time because there was no fun! In their old school they had a fairs to look forward to. My kids wished they were back at Deer Path. I think it is very sad. The school can do better.
