Im very disappionted with this school this year the new principal could care less of the kids there, they now start school AT 745 AM AND IF YOUR KIDS IS THERE AT 720 AM THEY WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR EVEN IF ITS RAINY OR SNOWING OR BELOW ZERO COME ON NOW REALLY MY DAUGHTER HAS ASTHMAS NOT COOL AT ALL ....THEN THERE THE PROBLEM WITH TEACHERS WHO BARELY SPEAK ENGLISH BUT WANT TO TEACH YOUR KIDS ENGLISH AND THEN USE THE SAME TEACHER FOR EVERY GRADE OMG HIRE ANOTHER TEACHER SO MY CHILD DOESN'T HAVE YOU AGAIN FOR 4TH 5TH AND 6TH
If I could give Columbus ZERO STARS, I would! Most of these reviews I m sure are from the teachers at this school or the parents who work/volunteer here. This school has been run by the gym teacher who everyone seems to be afraid of including the principal. Teachers here are too self-involved & have no clue as to what they are doing. I find it a HUGE problem when a teacher is gone for 2 quarters esp when she teaches the 7th grade then returns & expects the kids to be at the level they should be at during that time. This is the MOST important grade in elementary. This is not ok and I feel that if you re gone for 2 quarters then you should be gone for the year. There were several teachers out at the same time, for two consecutive years. The sub that was there for the 7th gr. was certified but definitely was not qualified to teach that gr. After many complaints from the parents, the principal chose to ignore us and left the sub there. Many parents transferred their kids because of this. I hope that the new principal sees the circus there and starts to get rid of these so called teachers. I will continue to do my best to have this school investigated after what they put us through.
Columbus is a great schooland it is getting better every year, with more parent involvement than ever. It is a small school with some very devoted teachers. I am so happy to send my children here.
School is small does not offer much activities and teachers and staff indifferent to bullying when my daughter went there thwo years ago. Transferring my daughter out of this school was the best thing I did.
this is a great school with a lot of programs and every person i know who has a child who gos to this school is empreced by what the child is learning.
I have lived in this neighborhood and attended various schools (myself) in this area...Columbus school is by far the most attentive and offer`s many different levels of personalized educational programs!! I have am astounded by the dedication of the staff at this facility!! I feel my child is actually luvky to be a part of this school!!
I love this school. I've only been here for 2 year yet, i fell like i'v made a second family. And, its so easy to make friends here.
Columbus School is probably one of the best public grade schools in the City. My son has been in this school since pre k and has excelled greatly under the guidance of the amazing teachers he has had here. He is now going into Third grade.
