I was greatly disappointed in the graduation ceremony. The view of just forgetting the motivational speaking because the original speaker bailed out was poor judgement. A teacher or anyone could have offered something rather than skipping this very important part of all graduations. Why did the invitation have the address to a school that was in session, and no one answering the bell, when the ceremony was a block away? The sound system failed? The principles dwelling on just the accomplishments of two students made me question weather the high standards that Larry Hawkins had, were being aimed at, or left to just a little more than what is expected of this area of the city. Why is Larry Hawkins picture not in the entrance or office?

The principal needs to be under review with the board members in all my years I never saw atteacher that is foul like him unprofessional in school rude to parents and students we as parents need to come together as one and put this in order.

There were great expectation when this school opened up. It seemed to be like a foot in on the success train for children but the only preparatory measures seem to be in the zero tolerance discipline structure. They treat the children like notches on the roster and offer little personal development programs aside from the animated neighborhood it's tucked into. Nothing at all too different from a regular CPS school.

Larry Hawkins is a very great school. They have good staff. The school is just great. By it being its first year opening it is on a really good start. I have no doubts that next year Larry Hawkins will be the best in the state. I believe that it will with all my heart.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.

Breaking down the GreatSchools Rating

Unfortunately, this school doesn't have sufficient data to generate an academic rating.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
