Wow, I must say that Loomis has fallen way off.. Im a fan of great teaching, finding new ideas, & most importantly, im a fan of concerns.. I do not feel that the principal listens or try to listen to parents concerns.. Mt family have been apart of Longwood & Loomis for over 13 years, but these past 2years have been awful & very unpleasing.. Unqulified teachwrs & staff, workers move up really fast here, the principal & her side kicks stick together.. More structure is needed, more training is needed, workers that care & show concern is needed, qualufied workers are needed, but we all know that starts with the head of the school, so we know Loomis need a new leader, to make things happen, & fight for whats needed.. I would not recommend this school to no parent for their child if their child has an 504 plan or IEP, they truly dont care, & your child will be thrown on the waste side.. But if your child is "general eduation" wit basci work, then you may love this school & your child will do fine. But, we

My daughter will attend 2nd grade this year and I must agree with most of the parents. The drop off and pick up is horrible they really need to find a better way to organize this process. I have called and left messages with the principal several times and no response. I will hate for something to happen to one of the kids while crossing the street.

Thought this school would be better for my child. I was wrong. I work in Education and believe in Charter but this school is horrible. For the most part I'm fine with the teachers but the principal is terrible. Its clear that she is afraid of parents. I asked to meet with her and she turned the meeting on the teacher. I'm fine with the teacher I have a problem with how the school is so disorganized and poorly ran. Because I work in Education I know the signs of a weak principal. I'm waiting to report my observation until I have another school for my.children. I can tell she would make things hard for my family if I told the management company. Bad, bad principal and what happened to the assistant principal? She just disappeared. I'm sure the horrible principal had something to do with it!

This has been an interesting school year, My son has been a student at Loomis since K. I am not happy with how the school is being ran. I only receive calls stating my son is having behavior issues. I have not received a call saying he having a great day, all ways negative. the behavior intervention Teacher also is not qualified for that position. If your child is not following direction, they want to give an IEP, or 504 plan. no class room management skills. some of the Teachers have no patience with African American kids. A lot of 1st year teachers who do not no what there doing, just really need employment and pay back student loans. I can actually say when Mrs. Shaw was there the school was ran a lot smoother. This school can really be great, but need the right Principal to come in and make the right changes. Also in the winter time they let the kids stand out side in the cold and snow, while the school staff is drinking hot coffee and enjoying the heat. If your in need of a neighbor hood school this is it. but if your looking for a challenge for your child, please run fast from this school.

Everything academically is very good about this school. The staff is very loving and attentive. The only downfall is drop off and pick up arrangements. The female parking attendant/director can be over bearing and overly aggresive. Come 3:15, the school becomes a madhouse when parents, all at one time, flood the doors to pick up their children. Pickups can definitely be more organized. Outside of that, overall, I am very satisfied with the service provided. If said issues are addressed, ths school gets five stars.

CICS Loomis primary academy would have been the best except for the after care arrangement. I would recommend that parents be given about 30minutes to pick up their kids after the 3:15pm dismissal. sometimes, it's hard to find a place to park and that could even take anywhere around 10 minutes and above and before you get in at 3:30, they already have the kids out of the building. even if you are 5minutes behind, without any help with homework or anything, they'll still go ahead and charge you the full price. it's very ridiculous. It wasn't this bad when Ms Shaw was the principal and i see it as a way to extort money from parents. this should be addressed as soon as possible. My child has had great teachers who are very caring and sensitive to their students needs. Ms Saint James is so awesome.

Much Needed Changes at Loomis - I think the process of accepting children into the school for morning arrival is greatly flawed... I realize that the start time for arrival is at 7:20 am, however if the teachers/staff is in the school before then I think the children should be allowed to enter the school and wait in the multipurpose room until school starts. Winter is soon approaching; I don't believe its fair to the children to have the teachers/staff in the building where it s warm while the children are outside freezing! Where is the concern for the children??? I also think that the process for dismal could use some adjusting as well.

My children have attended CICS-Loomis Primary for a few years now and I've always had great things to say. This school year however has not been the best. It can be contributed to the fact that there is a new principal and a few new unqualified teachers. Not one to quickly give up, I thought I'd trust in the school that I came to love but this has been next to impossible. The Administrative team has not addressed issues in a professional manner. So while they're figuring it out they are losing families left and right. This school is not what it was when Ms. Shaw was the principal. Hopefully, parents realize what's going on before their children fall behind.

My oldest daughter graduated the 8th grade from CICS Longwood Campus in 2010. The school and instructors there were wonderful and the education she received there definitely prepared her for high school. I have a daughter currently enrolled at the Loomis campus. Our experience here is also been enjoyable. The classwork along with the daily specials are instrumental in her growth. i highly recommend this school.

The school is very instrumental in my childs development. I appreciate how the school steps in if a student is struggling. They give the student one on one tutoring. I have other children who were CPS schools and they were not as involved with the kids education.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
