I read the comments below, and I question if they're parents or teachers. I am a parent of a 7th grade student. My daughter is above average in her grades and test scores. What has to be understood about this school is that students are grouped in pods according to their grades and their behavior. The discipline of the students should be blamed on the parents, not the teachers. If a child cannot behave in school, something is wrong at home. It is not the teachers responsibility to discipline and teach these kids how to act. That's our responsibility as parents. I have regular contact with my child's teachers. Any issues are handled directly between me and the teacher, so I have never had to have contact with the principal. This school is a good school given the neighborhood it is located in.

Terrible leadership in this school. Typical CPS administrators who just hand out positions to friends as favors without making sure they are qualified. They bully and threaten teachers and staff constantly, and allow patents to bully teachers and staff as well. Principal has no idea about good instruction at all. Waste of what started as a beautiful school.

Poor principal leadership. You never see the principal around. Students are out of control and teachers are not able to handle them. They opened this school with great hopes yet it is a big disappointment.. Just waste of taxpayers' money.

In 2012-2013 Illinois used the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 4 and 7 in science. The ISAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. In 2013 the Illinois State Board of Education raised the performance expectations for the ISAT in reading and math. These expectations have been adjusted to better align with the Common Core State Standards, a multi-state initiative that established year-by-year guidelines outlining the grade-specific skills and content students need to stay on the path to college and career readiness. The higher expectations of the new standards will result in a downward shift of where students rank in meeting or exceeding standards.
