Simeon has showed that the inner city schools can make a change for the better. Of coarse there is still much to be done, as with any plan for betterment. My son plays on the football team and he enjoys coming to school. The team keeps him busy and out of trouble and in Chicago that is a challenge. Yes we need better academics but I think they are headed in the right direction. Keep pushing forward Simeon.

This school is not a bad place but there is so much more that can be done. I don't feel that we are given enough say in the decisions made. I also feel that the teachers and other staff don t communicate with each other or us enough if at all. Help is never available when needed yet when deadlines are not met and scores are low then it is our fault.

I don't feel there pushing the teenagers hard enough. Lets be postive in teaching and stop walking around with that ( These kids gets on my nerve look. Also the security should be ratied a one. They really don't care because if they did they would be more caring about the children instead of the teachers who don't care.

This is my daughter's first year at this school, and so far I like how the teachers teach my daughter. I like how the teachers send my progress reports of my daughter's grades online. I also can go onto the schools website and look at the homework that my daughter has for the week. I think all schools should keep parents informed about their childrens progress.

Simeon Career Academy is the jewel of the CPS system. The programs that are offered at Simeon are second to none. With all of the state-of-the-art technology and equipment, Simeon is among the country's most elite. I have been a part of the Simeon Family for years and I look forward to many, many more. The academics are challenging, the athletic teams are very competitive, and the overall atmosphere is safe and pleasant.

There are many great teachers at Simeon(some not-so-great), but one thing's for certain, you'll get the education u need to be a productive citizen. Simeon is a Great place to get insight on life as well as book smarts.i would recommend taking advantage of being part of the Simeon family while you are given the opportunity.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Illinois used the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) to test students in grade 11 in reading, math and science. The PSAE is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
