My daughter has been at this school since fourth grade. She will be entering 5th grade next year at Field. This school has been a great choice for us; at first I was apprehensive about enrolling her at Field, after she had such a great experience at New Field for two years. However, I am happy that I went ahead and enrolled her. She has grown so much in this school, both socially and academically. She was placed in the gifted program and was challenged--which is something that she needed. I wish that parents would see the benefit of enrolling their child at this neighborhood school and not try to pull them out for out of area schools like Pierce, or move them to charters like CMSA. I hope that my neighborhood can one day soon see the gem of a middle school we have, and not continue to judge based on the past. The teachers and administrative staff are great at this school!

My child attended this school, for 2 years, only because its our district school. During that time I found this school to be lacking in many key educational areas. The students do not have Regular Physical Education. They aren't allowed to use the gymnasium at all for gym. Also, there isn't enough time set aside in the curriculum (if there is such) for Science and Math. The staff is unprofessional. There is a great deal of complication when communicating with the principle and Vice principle (due to their heavy non-English accents). The class rooms are quite overcrowded; up to 33 children per class in the start of the year. There's no effort to cooling the classrooms in the hot months. My child was sent to the nurse 3 times in the last 6 weeks of school for this. Only the main office has a window unit air conditioner. Terrible!

My sister and i went to the school to check it out before we enrolled my two neices. The lady on the intercom was rude and as soon as we walked into the school the security guards jumded at us to check in and go through the metal detectors. How bad is it that our young children have to go through that everyday, I felt like we walked into a prison. And no way would i want my young girls to be in an atmosphere like that on a daily basis. I would rather pay a crazy amount of tuition than send my children to a school like that. Not to mention the security people were very rude. Me and my sister both went to Chicago public schools and grew up in a Chicago neighborhood. It's pretty sad how things change in such a short time.
