I graduated from Hale. The school is Okay, although I believe that they should start paying attention in what the students say about their teachers being Racist. It as well did not get me prepared for my freshman year they goal for the students are way too low. The staff should also focus more about the children's education rather than how much a student talks.
I currently have 2 childern here & in the last year have seen a dramatic change for the BETTER!!! There is a new principal..My childern have always done well & I stay involved!! Any concerns I may have in the future I would always address!!
I used to go to this school. It is the worst school in the entire area, don't send your children here, they won't learn a thing! The teachers say at the beginning of the year we'll do a small review of last year, but that review lasts the whole school year! The students hold back the entire class cause the teacher must go and yell at them for not behaving. At Hale, every child is stupid according to the teachers, None can succeed. When a child is smart and can do the work faster, the teachers try to make it that they are rushing and try making all their work look wrong and then say its their fault. In lunch, I nearly choked to death cause the worker was busy yelling to a kid who was talking. This school worries more about the kids talking than learning, or the children's safety
I disagree with the last post. My daughter who just started second grade is having a difficult time with reading and it was quickly adressed by her teacher. She placed her in a six week program that is going to help her strengthen her reading skills and she also suggested enrolling her in an after school program. Her previous teacher at a different school, didn't think she had a problem which only showed how much more dedicated her new teacher is. Over all, great teachers and a great staff at a great location.
This school does not address learning disabilities early enough to actually help a child before that child falls behind in reading. I also believe the teaching staff does not take ownership of their own roles when children with learning disabilities are falling behind, instead they jump to the conclusion that it is the parent's fault.
So far my husband & i are happy with hale i have 2 daugthers that go here & they are doing very well. Improving their strengths & weaknesses !
academically, the school may be slightly above average, however, the large amount of students whose primary language is not english slow down learning for all. there are virtually no after school/summer programs except for tutoring . no programs at all for gifted students!! Class sizes way too big, in large part due to students who do not live in the district
I have a 2nd grader in this school. The school give children a lot opportunities for growth. One of the top south side schools around
I have three children that attend Hale school. It is truly a great school. My children excel in their studies because ther are some wonderful teachers there that do indeed care about the children. There are many extracurricular activities at our school. Hale school is clean and has many concerned parents. Absolutely one of the last great public schools around!
