My daughters attend Hammond School since Kindergarten. I do not why two parents posted negative reviews about this school. When I go to pick up my daughters, I see a lot of security and the main street is closed for traffic. My daughters have learned a lot and are happy at Hammond. I have great communication with teachers and administrators. It is a small school and that is better because teachers know every child.

im very happy with Hammond School. My sughter has been there for the past 2 school years and the teachers really helped her with the high school application process. Im proud to say she graduated and is going to Lane Tech , along with 3 other classmates. Many of her friends are also going to various different high schools next year. The teachers I dealt with were very nice and caring. she was also a part of the after school algebra program and passed the test to receive high school credit for algebra. Being at Hammond was a great experience for her and as a parent.

I have children at Hammond. I am happy with their teachers and school in general. My son's teacher has made sure to challenge my son and knows how to keep him engaged. My kids have all tested well and will qualify to test for the selective enrollment schools in a few years. I owe that to the excellent teachers at Hammond School who have dedicated themselves to our children in a neighborhood that could use some improvement.

I am not sure why some people are posting terrible reviews of this school. I have been in this community for over 8 years, and the staff at this school constantly dedicates their time and energy to helping all students. Since this is a low income area, many of the students come to school without supplies and basic materials. The teachers are always helping them out. My children have never encountered any dangerous situations or threats and I have never heard of any of the problems the other commenters made. I think there are some angry parents who did not get their way making bad reviews. My children have been successful and the level of academic demand at this school puts some private schools to shame. Every year the children do better and better overall. Compared to other public schools in the area, this school is like one big family. Small enough to know all the students and care for each and every one of them.

My son has been in this school since pre K and it has been very disapointing. The teachers dont really work with him since he is a above level in reading skills. He becomes bored in school & they wants him to relearn what he already knows til the other children catch up. Because of this he has acted out quite a bit in class. Now he is pinned as a troubled child & the teacher suggested that he had some kind of syndrome. Also there is the problem of violence outside of the school its self. Gang bangers prey on the younger children as they come out. Also there is some of the students themselves I hear from 1 parent that grafiti the surrounding houses. As with the principle she is a dear woman but I don't think she knows how to handle certain situations properly.

this is one of the worse schools I have had my child in. Teachers could care less about the students, administration are rude and the principle has no idea what she is doing. THis school is plagued with so much violence and the school does not protect the children.
