Hedges Only a few of the teachers are involved and seem to really care and understand the students. Teachers are constantly switched to different grades each year.. New teachers come and go frequently and there is very little consistency. The principal is not very friendly and makes very little effort to get involved in his own school. He needs to take the time listen to the students, parents and teachers.

i think the school should focus more on want the children's needs are them some of what the teachers want. Always switching teachers each intermisson for grades when its hard enough for kids to adjust to one teacher. Yes the gang is under control but the office staff some of them are just rude and dont even help parents. If my child was not autistic i would never select this school for my two daughters but this is what cps central gave me. Advice teachers and Staff , Listen to your children in class. if a parent ask for help dont be rude it is not easy for us either,

Hedges is considered one of the best schools in the area. The gang problems are almost nonexistent. Other area schools do not provide the safety that Hedges staff and parents do. They have alot of student parent involvement and those parents that complain the most are the ones that never attend meetings and never get involved with their kids, so they do not know what goes on. The office staff is helpful and friendly and bilingual. Both assistant principals are bilingual, teachers have won many grants and parents activity nights are attended by a minimal number of families. Usually the same families attend meetings and workshops over and over again. Schools are as good as the parents want them to be. It should be a team effort. Discipline and involvement should begin at home.

Hedges seems to me to be very uninvolved with its children, the teachers seem bored and don't have many activities for the children, I rate this school a big 0.
