One of the best public schools in the southside. There is overcrowding but the teachers are very good and knowledgeable in their subject areas. I think the discipline is very good in this school.

Hubbard is the best school in the South Side. It does have an over crowding issue and the building is not the greatest, but the teachers and extracurricular activities are great. They provide enough challenge and work for any kid. As long as a kid is in the Honors program or in IB there will be no problems with the underachievers in the class.

Great school. Excellent extra-curricular activities. Football, soccer, wrestling, and ROTC are some of the best in the state. IB program is wonderful and very challenging. Very few gang problems and a very helpful staff. Best public school in the area. Not the best in the city, but for the southwest side, it blows the other schools out of the water.

My oldest child is part of the IB program at Hubbard. She really likes the school and the programs that they have to offer. The ROTC team has ranked #1 in the couuntry for 2 years straight. If you attend the school try to be in the IB program!

Quality of academic programs is good, staff is excellent for the most part, as is administration. Unsure as to extracurricular activities. Classes are large and school is overcrowded as a whole. Some problems with tardiness, students cutting class, etc.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Illinois used the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) to test students in grade 11 in reading, math and science. The PSAE is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
