Oriole Park is one of the best schools in the state. My child is getting a top education and will be more then prepared for any high school he chooses to attend. The staff is supportive and caring. The principal is always there if you have an issue and is great with the kids. The community is very involved in the school. They are always willing to fundraise for the school, for little extras the school needs. The Chinese, Computer, Science and Art/Music programs are excellent! My child is very happy at this school.

My sons went from a Baccalaureate, magnet school to Oriole Park and they have flourished. In the magnet school I felt like they were just a number, a butt in the seat, at Oriole Park my boys are treated like individuals and given the time and attention all children deserve. Oriole Park is over -crowded and underfunded but still manages to be one of the best schools not only in Chicago but in the state this doesn't just happen, the tone in this school is set by it's outstanding principal and carries through to the teachers and the parents. I love this school and cannot say enough good things about it..

Oriole Park School is a phenomenal school with a passionate principal, dedicated, superior teachers and super students. It's the #1 neighborhood school in Chicago in spite of its minimal funding. High performing schools like Oriole Park should be rewarded. Instead, it often seems like the school is being penalized. I am proud to be an Oriole Park School parent.

Having grown up and graduated from the Chicago Public School system, I found myself against sending my kids to Oriole Park. This has all changed after reviewing and visiting Oriole Park. I currently have two children enrolled in this school and I believe Oriole Park is a great example how the Chicago Public Schools can excel. The Principal Mr. Estrada is very passionate about the school and is always looking out for what is best for the children. The overall test score performance for this school has exceeded and will continue to exceed above and beyond the CPS ISAT standards.

Because they are teaching classes that will help them in their grown-up lives. ie, Chinese. We all know the future of the US is hand in hand with the Chinese. Knowing this language will put these kids one step closer to a needed ability. OPS goes that one step further to ensure they are providing the best for their students.

Oriole Park has facility that really cares the students understand get it. It not just about tests scores it is about my Childs future. My child attended a private school last year and every night was a battle with the homework. This year she is the one telling me she cannot do things because it has to study. Oriole Park has transformed the type of student she is and in turn has changed my Childs future. My only wish is that all of our programs stay in tact and the city provide some much needed funding for new programs! I trust Oriole Park will put the winnings to good use for the benefit of the students and our children s future.

We were very timid to have our grandchild in public school, but heard so many really good things about OPS--like understanding teachers, a well-qualified principal and an assistant principal with the same objectives for the students. Our grandchild has surpassed his 'home-schooled' cousins in one year at OPS!! The curriculum is fantastic! Teachers maintain discipline and encourage the children to enjoy learning!

My son went to the preschool there last year. There was one morning class and one afternoon class. The teachers are excellent!! My son couldn't wait to go everyday. This year they added one more morning and afternoon class in the same classroom so I don't know it anything has changed for the better or worse but the classroom is very well stocked for teaching little ones.

I took my children out of private school to attend Oriole Park due to all great things I heard. I was NOT disapointed at all. I was surprised how far behind they were at the catholic schools. The staff here is top notch and very involved in your childs success. Homework may be a bit escessive but the test schools show it. My oldest tested into Notre Dame High Scool with honors and offered a partial academic scholarship. I am convinced this was made possible by his hard work and guidance at Oriole.

I think Oriole Park is a great example of how public schools can excel! There is so much negativity surrounding Chicago Public Schools and Oriole is a perfect example of how a 'public' school can be an excellent school! The academics are in my opinion ahead of the local catholic schools that are charging $3500 a year plus in tuition. The new principal and vice principal are completely hands on. A.R. reading program can be hectic but I believe beneficial. We just need more roomParental involvement does seem to dwindle in the higher grades. Overall-we love Oriole Park School!

February 16, 2006
In my opinion, Oriole Park has an excellent academic curriculum. My children enjoy school and are challenged every day. However, the amount of homework is burdensome when my children are enrolled in after school activities. The school received a grant to teach Chinese in all grade levels and my children love it. Some programs such as music/art have suffered due to the school budget, however, overall the program is good. Due to high enrollment, there are module classrooms behind the school. The modules appear to be clean and comfortable, and they ease the over crowding in the main building, however, an addition is definitely needed in the near future. Principal Estrada appears to be doing well in his first year. Parent involvement varies with a small portion of the families taking on the most responsibility. Meetings and activities are scheduled at difficult times for working parents.

January 10, 2006
Mr. Estrada and Mr. Pesce are great assets to this school. They are patient, kind and understanding to the students' needs. In the short amount of time they've been here, there has been a lot of improvement. I look forward to the years to come. The only downside to the school is the parental involvement. The PTO does so much for the school; however, for the amount of families enrolled, there is not enough involvement. Our school could have so much more if only more parents would get involved.

Now that our prncipal has resigned to take a new job, i feel that Oriole Park School will become the school that teaches children to learn and not just take tests! It was unfortunate that the former principal overcrowded the school with out of area students. Hopefully the new administration will address this situation.

This is a great school. The parents are really involved and the kids have tremendous school spirit and pride. The academic program is accelerated. The kids score very highly on apptitude tests thanks to the principal There is an aide in every classroom that is a certified teacher so no child is left behind! Active PTO & LSC.The school offers social opportunities such as Bingo Night, Movie Night and parent/child dances, etc. There is a band program, music program, art program, chinese language, culture and afterschool chinese dance program also a sports program that includes flag football, softball, basketball and track. Down the street from the school building is Oriole Park Library and across from the library is Chicago Park District Oriole Park. The Park district offers afterschool programs for the kids. Down Oketo Ave. is Got Chi, dance studio and martial arts and they offer an afterschool.
