Our son is in the Tuition Based Pre-K program and it is fantastic! Great parent communication from the teachers to the principal. Our son is thriving and we are very happy to be a part of such an amazing program and school!!!!

New principal, new assistant principal, new LSC, new PTA - you can feel the spirit and the excitement in the school raising dramatically! We've come through what looked like a bad storm that's turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. This academic year is full of promise and the teachers, administration and staff are fantastic. This school has 30 fairs and events, after school workshops and clubs, summer camp, tuition based pre-K, the list goes on and on. I'm thrilled to be a part of it and wouldn't put my two kids anywhere else! Seriously - check it out.

New principal and new LSC, as of July 1, 2008. New principal looks really promising - very positive attitude and cares about the students - not just metrics. I was in the office yesterday filling out paperwork and noticed a marked improvement in staff attitude. It will be a big transition year, but the school has a lot of potential. Great teachers, involved parents, and promising new administration.

The administration merits 2 stars at the most. They have repeatedly shown lack of concern for the well-being of students, particularly special education students, and for the teaching staff. They have made comments at meetings with parents that denigrate the hard work of the teachers and they have consistently refused active involvement with students and teachers. Their mismanagement is so severe, the LSC has successfully worked to not re-new the principal's contract.

This is a school that has great potential. I have two children here. The school has a very dedicated teacher base and a new principal who will provide great leadership and help the school achieve even higher levels of success. The facility itself is in good condition and the diversity and community feel of the school enhances the learning experience.

The principle is a reformist with superb management skills, the teachers in the primary grades are excellent, the Friends Of Ravenswood group is full of hard working parents and visionaries. The LSC is a complete disaster with the exception of 2 community representatives.

Ravenswood is what it is because of the principal. The majority of the teachers are resistant to change and to new teaching techniques.

Totally agree that this school have the BEST TEACHERS( and I say THE TEACHERS) in the State of Illinois!, they are the ones who have made the school one of the best.

Ravenswood Elementary serves 500 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Ravenswood boasts an award-winning faculty and has a caring community of parents who are working together to create a safe, nurturing environment in which students flourish. Among Ravenswood teachers are Golden Apple teachers, a National Board Certified teacher, and an Illinois Art Educator of the Year. The Ravenswood curriculum is built on literacy, and individualized instruction. Ongoing assessment to inform instruction allows teachers to support students' strengths and address their areas of need. In addition to literacy instruction, Ravenswood students participate in school-wide programs designed to emphasize higher academic standards and citizenship, including Junior Achievement, Young Authors, Science Fair, History Fair, World s Fair, Peer Leaders Program, Visiting Artists, Opera Workshop, athletics and more. Each Ravenswood classroom has at least five internet-accessible multi-media computers. In addition, there is a school-wide multi-media computer center with 20 workstations and wireless laptops.
