I'm a member in the edgewater community and I've volunteered at swift and seen how hard the teachers work with these kids. There are so many languages spoken and kids from literally around the world and yet they are a level 1 school and the vast majority of kids are above average in all state testing. Also, they painted a new mural right by the Thorndale Red Line stop which looks pretty cool.

Our son was at Swift pre-K for two years. We loved the teachers. Our son made great friends and so did we as parents. He might still be there but we live just outside the district and did not get in to their kindergarten program.

Hi, I went to this school and it was a great experience. The teachers are great, there is a great middle school section with many great and experienced teachers. The curriculum is challenging. The classes that have recently graduated were outstanding, with top performances and awards at the city level. :)

Swift is an excellent school with a great curriculum and extra curricular activities. They have one of the top art teachers on the northside and kids from here go to the top schools including Northside College Preperatory, Walter Payton Prep, Lane Tech, Lincoln Park IB, Von Steuben, and many more. The environment is great and the teachers are welcoming, the 8th graders which is the graduating Class of 2009 is simply amazing, the student are great and very intelligent. Come by the school some time and meet the students.

I have 2 kids and my chirlden attened swift the school is very clean has very good lunches and nice teachers and has very good curlicum activities espeally sports programs

This is a neighborhood school in a very diversed community, economically and racially. The staff and principal are very friendly and cooperative. My first involvement with the school when I was trying to register my kids for the special education services. Like many other CPS, the school did not have enough resources to provide evaluation services and relied so much on parents' opinion on kids' progress.

I'm studying education in college, and I visited Swift for an observation. The administration was friendly & helpful, the facilities clean and pretty, and the lessons displayed in the halls were open-ended, multicultural and, at times, artistic. However, the sixth, seventh and eighth grade rooms I visited had fairly cranky teachers. They yelled at the kids ('Shut up! What's wrong with you NOW? Are you disrupting my class AGAIN? You're so rude!') and even name-called the kids ('Lazy!') in some instances. Middle schoolers are challenging, but the last thing they need are teachers that yell or make fun of them.

I provided the review in May, 2004. Since then, Swift has implemented a uniform dress code, included art, music and p.e. for the kindergarteners and improved on the local and state assessments. Swift is a school that is on its way to becoming an excellent school for students. I am pleased that my children attend Swift.
