I have two children who attend Yates. I am so proud of their success but my children could have not done it without the huge effort of the teachers. They are always willing to help and constantly giving kids the opportunity to grow and show their stregths in so many ways. Yates has so many talented teachers who truly care and go beyond their jobs. I love this school!

My children are no longer in this school fortunately. I've had a problem getting issues resolved. Constantly being told that someone would get back in touch with me, getting the run around from the staff and basically being frustrated with dealing with the entire administration. If this was corrected, this school would be better.

I have two children that curently attend Yates, and they are very happy there. The teachers are all very supportive and friendly. Administration is soo understanding and easy to work with. I also have two children who graduated from Yates and they both have become college and career focused.

As principal of Yates School, I have worked vry diligently to create a family-like environment where students, faculty and staff are happy and secure. The school community is always welcome inside the school building and there is a very strong parent component. ISAT scores have improved and the school offers a strong math and science curriculum. Yates is a partner with Association House of Chicago and English and literacy classes are offered for parents inside the school. Children who move and transfer to other schools, transfer back to Yates and take public transportation in order to get to school each day.

Yates is a great school with talented teachers and an excellent principal who is responsive to all parents and staff. The school is always clean and cheerfull with great attention to operations and safety. Strong school spirit is clearly evident. The Administration is fully available to respond to any teacher or parent concerns, and the problem is resolved in a timely fashion. The teachers are consumate professionals and work tirelessly to give their students the best education possible.

I have been dealing with Yates Elementary for several years now with no improvement in any area. This school tends to discourage parent involvement especially if you are an African-American unless there is some kind of complaint about the child. The principal as well as the assistant principals are very uninvolved with anything regarding the children's education unless it is an extra-curricular activity which will make them look good superficially. I am extremely dissatisfied with this school. Don't send your child there unless you absolutely have no other choice!
