My child is now a senior at Brooks College Prep High School, which is the top selective enrollment high School on the southside of Chicago. She has met and became friends with kids from all over the city. The school is safe & clean. The teachers, Principal & students are all excellent and continously score high on state test. Also, the school has had newly built additons to the school such as; a indoor bowling alley, auditorium, new gymnasium, swimming pool, football field & a beautiful pond. My daughter has been on the honor roll for the past 3 years. There is a lot of homework so your hcild has to be disciplined & prepared. My daughter is a cheerleader & in the Spanish Club. The school offers courses that other schools don't offer. So take advantage of them all. My daughter has been given a four year scholarship to the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana!!! I am thrilled. Brooks college counselor work hard to secure scholarships for its students. Most of their students go on to Ivy league & Big Ten colleges and universities throughout the country. The school is truly amazing! If you seek a challenging rigorous environment, Brooks College Prep is your answer.

This is an amazing school! I have been challenged and learned so much. I am glad I was accepted to this school. I am have been accepted to Harvard College on the east coast and Duke University (amongst others). I have chosen Duke University and is excited to attend in the fall. The teachers are great and they help you out if you need some extra help. I am going to miss Brooks College Prep.

This is our second year in the Brooks family. I think that Dr. Brown, the teachers, and the rest of Brooks staff are doing a great job. My child's academic needs are being met. The teachers and curriculum is challenging. The extra curricular activities are getting better. My son feels very safe at this school and I do not worry about him while he is there. Many improvements are being made to the campus. Such as a swimming pool, new gym, auditorium, bowling alley, and football field. We couldn't ask for a better school. This is a great school.

My child went to Brooks for four years and did not like the school. My response was this is a top ranked school, and it will be good for you. Ever since the new principal was hired, the school seems to be going down except in sports. You have very good teachers in place if they are allowed to teach, and the rest need to come up to the task. I pulled my child out and transferred to another high school. At this time her grades have gotten better, and will graduate on schedule. My child has picked up on the subjects they fell behind in, and are on the right track. My heart fell Thanks go out to all that helped while my child was there.

My two daughters attended this school there freshman, and sophmore year. Unfortunetly, we had moved because of my husbands job. This schools cirriculum is outstanding, and the teachers were very helpful to my childrens needs.

I am a current freshman at Brooks and I absolutely love my school! The curriculum is very good but it's challenging!! You can not slack off because it will show in your grades immediately. Teachers provide both students and parents with phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Students here stay focused on their work and still like to have fun. Students have alot of school spirit and like to help each other. Brooks is THE school to go to!

GBCP has a good college prep curriculum, but needs to add more AP classes, better prepare students for standardized testing, and track student 4 year progress with better college prep counseling services. Brooks, academically is a top school on the South Side of Chicago, but doesn't operate at the same level as the other top Selective Enrollment schools. Parental involvement is very low. The school website is not updated and there's no computer system for parents to track student progress. Most students are satisfied, but don't realize that they aren't receiving the same quality services that other top Selective Enrollment schools receive. Activities are sufficient, but sports programs are a work in progress, some good, some bad.

(GBCPA),Gwendolyn Brooks College Preratory Academy is an absolutly amazing highschool. The school is absolutly breathtaking, surrounded by beautiful wildlife attracted by the very immaculate pond taht does nothing but add to the beauty of the school. The students that attend GBCPA are some of the brightest students in Chicago. Although the classes are quite difficult GBCPA is a great Highschool to consider.

Being a current student at Brooks I know what the school is about. The curriculum is excellent, you really learn how high school isn't a joke and that college won't be either. They expect alot out of there students and they try not to be to hard on us but it's tough so you really have to be serious or you will be in alot of trouble. I can't say much else but you would want your child to go here it's great and this school makes it easy to stay focused because alot of activities that go on in the school happen at the end of the day so you can't get behind on your studies. That's it. Choose Brooks.

As a former student at Brooks I learned that you have to step up to the challenge. Everything wasn't what it seemed because I was new to the learning environment. But many teachers were friendly and helpful. The athletics are cool because they allow you to show your skills and be creative. At Brooks everyone's a winner, if they choose to be!

The academic programs at Brooks were wonderful and you were given a chance to use your full potential with opportunities to take college courses at univesities while you were in school. There were a lot of extracurricular activities added during my four years at Brooks. They were few and far between my freshman year because the school was new but they made big improvements. I was blessed to go to a school that I didn't have to worry about gang violence and all of that other nonsense. And my experience there created a yearning in me to further my education. Brooks is a great school if you take advantage of the programs given. C/O 2002

As a former student, Brooks is a very good school. Going here has changed my life around. Now, I'm in the Navy and I thank all the teachers who had the chance to be my teachers. Keep up the good work. Blue and silver!

My child is in her fourth year at Brooks and I have been very pleased. The quality of most of the teachers is very good and I believe the new principal will be an improvement to the school.

The School is alright, but under the leadership of the new principal the school environment has gotten worse. It almost seems as if they are more worried about uniform than actual learning. Other thatn that my child loves it.

G.B.C.P.A. was an okay school.it is still going through its chganges because of the fact that it has been open for only about 5-6 years. there are sports but they are not the best in ranking. But again you have to realize its because ofthe fact that its a new school.Brooks is a hard school, but it can be easy if you keep on track
