Excellent academics, technology (whiteboards) in each classroom, good selection of enrichment programs, upper classmen look after younger students, good core values and emphasis on Christian values - and that's from a non-Christian. So wonderful to find such a gem for a neighborhood school!

Involved and caring faculty, staff, principal and, more importantly, parents & guardians. Great academics. Just wish it had facilities for gym and auditorium.

Probably the first school in Chicago to offer Cantonese and now Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. Great curriculum that is always being updated to new and better standards. Devoted and caring faculty and staff.

Living in downtown Chicago makes it fairly difficult to find an affordable high quality education. St. Therese offers everything I was looking for. The academics are second to none, extra curricular programs and sense of community afforded can not be beat. If it was not for St. Therese I would have moved out of the city.

St. Therese Chinese Catholic School is a community within a community. There are second and third generation families in this school. The parents are involved, the teachers are attentive and caring and the alumni are genuinely interested in the welfare of the school. And there is a strong emphasis on academics and culture.

I love how the upper class take care of the lower class. I love the way the parents work together for the school. I love the way my son comes home and tells me all the things that he learned in math and especially science. I love being a 5th grade home room parent. I love the way the principal disciplines a pupil with sterness but yet kindness.

School is nicely located near the heart of Chinatown. The environment is great and lively. The teachers here are exceptionally well. They've all been at the school for many many teachers. The teachers all work hard and try to make sure the children graduate into a prestigious high school. The school attends mass at their church once a month and also attends all the other Catholic holidays. Children are taught well and discipline is a must for a school of this caliber.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
