Josephinum is a school unlike any other. It s a place where a girl can come to learn without holding back because of male distractions. The teachers really care about how we learn and where we are. Though unsure of the school at first, I came to love it and can t imagine being anywhere else.

Josephinum Academy is an extraordinary school that offers excellent academics, a staff who always go the extra mile and teachers who care about the students in a manner seldom seen. The overall performance of everyone at Josephinum has impressed me beyond my hopes and expectations. I work with several children to ensure their educational success and I endorse Josephinum as a school that encourages, supports, guides, teaches and cares about its students. I am impressed and grateful for all everyone has done. The students exhibit enthusiasm and a joy in learning. Josephinum Academy is outstanding.

Josephinum Academy is a special place for young women. The academics, attention and love shown to the girls is not found in the majority of high schools, especially in Chicago. My daughter is a freshman and I find that she has begun to blossom, finding her voice and expressing leadership. She was extremely introverted, lacking friends and now she is enjoying developing close friendships. I feel great watching her grow into a more self-assured young woman. Like I began, "The Jo" is a very special place!

I don't even know where to begin with Josephinum Academy! For it being my freshmen year, I am in love with The Jo! For me, the best part are the young teachers. Because of the fact that they're a bit younger than the "average-aged teacher," they relate to us a lot, which has been very helpful. The teachers make classes so much fun, they actually CARE about our future, and you can have a personal relationship with each of them, without feeling weird about it. The classes and curriculum is also another positive key factor of what Josephinum has to offer. They offer advances courses, like AP Biology and AP Calculus. I love that they arrange us based on how much we know, and what we need more help on. Currently, I'm in advanced survey literature, which has been great for me because I am being challenged, so it makes my learning education that much more rewarding. The school also understands that not all students work on the same level, so they make sure we are placed in the right classes. Josephinum is the place to go if you want to become an intelligent, positive, insightful, and independent woman.

Josephinum was a haven from my insane family life. The teachers were genuinely caring in guiding me toward my full potential. I graduated with a strong sense of integrity that has been challenged throughout my life. I know I wouldn't be the person I am today without the development of a STRONG foundation created at the Jo!

I'm an alumna of Josephinum High School and I feel it was a blessing to walk through those doors for four years. I had a safe, one of a kind education that prepared me for the rest of my life.

Most fulfilling - giving you all of the learning tools for the future (both acedemic and life time skills). Its the best - I know I went for four years and came out a well rounded person in all areas.

My daughter attends this Jo and it is the best thing for her. The class room sizes are perfect, she has a relationship with heach of her teachers and these are real teachers who care. The girls here are friends with all, we don't have boy drama and each girls there helps each other out. These girls make us proud! If you are looking for a great school this is the one. Goood size classes, great teachers and the confidence they instill on our girls will last a lifetime, as will the friendships they have made there.

I attended and gradated from the 'Jo' in 1992. It was an excellent school then and has only improved over the years. The faculty, staff, parents, and alumni are dedicated to the success and development of its' girls into mature, responsible, positvely contributing members of our society. I highly reccommend Josephinum High School and Middle school to any parent in search of a quality complete education for their daughters. I will send all my daughters to the 'Jo' in the future.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
