My daughter has been attending St.Johns for 3 years now. After a rough start in 3yr preschool we are doing very well! The school is clique, as some other parents have written. Seems if you do not attend sunday church on regular basis you are out the loop. The CPS schools in my neighborhood are not up to standards. I feel at St.Johns im dealing with parents that have same views and goals for our children. I love the moral teachings and academic foundation my daughter is receiving from this school. I feel it is a safe school. I feel the principal is much more approachabl and friendly than other schools. I do hope more people attend as the stress in the last year or two over financial hardships at private schools has been evident. I will continue to keep my daughter at this school until moving out of the CPS system.

I can't praise St. John's enough! We returned to Chicago from Indiana last year, and found the curriculum MUCH more challenging here at St. John's. We also found a welcoming "family" atmosphere, a great, dedicated faculty and staff who were helpful in the transition, and a wonderful student body. There is a vibrancy to the school, the adjoining church, and the neighborhood. A broad mix of backgrounds and cultures come together in an environment of respect, support, and encouragement. St. John's is a place where the Christian faith is clearly supported and lived-out, and where the students not only are given an outstanding education that prepares them for the best high schools, but where they fully develop their God-given gifts, preparing them for life.

In my experience as a student at the school and as alumnus I will say that when I was there the quality of the teachers was great. Even today I still see the way that teachers care about the well being of the students. As far as an education your child will receive the best education on the northside of Chicago for the fraction of the cost of schools like Roycemore and Latin. Though as a parent be prepared in such a small school to deal with the small school gossip between parents.

The teachers here are over-experienced , loving and very nurturing. The dedication of the parents and staff together makes this school a wonderful enviroment.

This school is designed around the students and teaching them. The primary grade teachers have over 90 years experience between them and are an asset. They prepare the students and challenge them to learn. They are patient and fair. The rest of the staff continues the process instilled upon by the primary teachers.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
