My school is great we will do 8 years here so far we have done 5 years and my grandson loves going everyday to his school this says a lot about the school, staff and of course Ms. Hill the principal of St. Stans. My grandson has come along way with lots of help from great teachers also many activities the school offers. He also has many good friends which is good for his upbringing. I thank St. Stans for all there hard work everyday they offer the children in there care. Everywhere there is good and bad but here the good out weights any bad, Ms. Hill is there to insure the bad is gone and I have seen this in action. I love that I see my grandson is so happy to go to school everyday, does his homework, and is an active part of St. Stans. Try this school I bet you can say you are as happy as we are. Thank you Saint Stans for insuring my grandson is never left behind and for always looking out for his best interest.
We are so proud to be a part of St. Stanislaus! Our children are continuously learning what it means to be a part of a team and are on their way to becoming wonderful leaders. SSKS utilizes "Brain Gym", "7 Habits of Highly Effective People", and the University of Chicago "Everyday Math" programs. All of which have helped the students from St. Stan's to excell in their test taking skills. All students in the Archdiocese of Chicago are required to take the Explore test during their fall semester to get a better picture of a child's college readiness. The students from St. Stan's have exceeded the scores of 8th grade students nationally on this test. This is one of many reasons to take another look at St. Stans.
St. Stan's is an excellent school and I couldn't be happier with the level of education, spiritual guidance and emotional nurturing that is provided. My daughter loves going to school, the staff is dedicated, and there is a variety of after school programs. St. Stan's is simply the best! Every year I think how lucky I was to have found this school.
St. Stan's is wonderful school, and we're blessed to have found it. First of all, very few schools can match the diversity of St. Stan's students, and I'm confident this diversity will allow our child to be a more accepting and understanding adult. Second, the school is lead by an amazing principal who knows the names of many students and parents and works extremely hard to actively serve the entire community. Lastly, because I'm limited in my comments, the school incorporates the Leader in Me along with Catholic principles throughout. These help build amazing values among the children giving them the opportunity to be great people as well as do great things.
I am a teacher at St. Stan's and have been for a number of years. Every year I continue to work here, I am more and more impressed by the wholehearted commitment and drive of the staff to bring every academic and personal level of care they can for their students.
St. Stan's is a great place for children to learn and grow. They focus on social and emotional as well as academics. They offer Brain Gym to all of the students, and it's part of the normal curriculum. These techniques help the students deal with their feelings and how to cope with difficult situations. This school is FANTASTIC! The principal is dedicated and committed to the kids' education. St. Stan's is a hidden gem.
This is the first year my kids are enroll in St. Stans and I am more than please. My daughter loves her science teacher and my son wakes up happy to go to school, he's now excited to read chapter books.
As a parent living in Chicago, St. Stan's is a godsend. Dealing with Chicago Public Schools is tiring, complicated, and a never ending maze that is constantly changing. St. Stan's is a fantastic alternative to public school in Chicago. It's affordable for all families. It's diverse student body is refreshing and gives my child the chance to become friends with ethnically diverse children. The curriculum is challenging and my daughter is eager to learn. I tell as many people looking for a good school without the headache about St. Stan's. The leadership and social-emotional component to the children's curriculum provides awareness of personal responsibility and empathy for others. I could go on and on about why this school is THE school parents in Chicago should be flocking to for their kids best shot at getting into a great high school in Chicago. This school, the principal, the staff, and teachers deserve more than five stars for their commitment to education children.
The Leadership philosophy of St. Stan's makes this school special. As confident, courageous, and compassionate leaders, the students participate in activities and engage in curriculum that prepares them for the future. The staff at St. Stan's goes above and beyond to provide a challenging, caring, and unique educational experience for all. Their commitment to professionalism and dedication to excellence has ensured tremendous gains in academic achievement and in the social/emotional development of students.
We love our children's school for so many reasons; terrific principal, faculty and staff with exciting academic cirriculum packed together with self- development frameworks. One such innovative approach is Stephen Covey's "The Leader in Me". These "7-habits" empower and direct St. Stan's students as they navigate their way through academia. They learn tools to promote relationship development via intuitive self-reflection, creative problem-solving and positive emotional expression. Students build a skills set that encourages a stronger sense of self and personal responsibility. A happy heart can be successful in all that it embraces, including challenging academics. How nice to have a school that understands the structure of support that a child needs to flourish on an educational level. Even nicer to watch our own wee darlings employ the 7-Habits especially as they think "win-win" during one of many water-scooting toy feuds over the summer months!
I have been extremely pleased with St. Stan's summer camp program. The teachers and staff are very professional, and my child has had a great summer. The camp is very affordable and the children are kept busy with weekly field trips to various sites all over the city, regular visits to the pool and park just across the street, and various in-classroom activities that have kept my child engaged in academics throughout the summer months. A truly wonderful program with great staff. Highly recommended.
If you are looking to change schools or get your children to start attending school, then St. Stans is where you should be heading. Not only is the school right off the Division Street exit of 90/94, but there are two parking lots to allow parents to walk their children into school in the morning, and not have to worry about picking them up in the evening. Every teacher has an active role in the lives of our children and care for the students as if they were their own. The before and after care program is on site and makes my children feel at home. There are amazing after school programs to choose from and the language programs that are offiered are Spanish or Mandarin. My preK kids sing to me in Mandarin and I am amazed!!! If you are not sure where to send your kids, come to the school and see for yourself how amazing SSKS is.
St Stan's has the most talented and dedicated staff and faculty, including a terrific Principal. Our children are always excited to go to school each morning. For us as a family, this speaks volumes! St Stan's have one of the most innovative selections of exciting curriculum that I have seen available at an elementary school. Our children are academically challenged, emotionally nurtured and creatively inspired to become strong and effective leaders. This School is doing great work. It's only a matter of time before they are packed out the door....
In my day, children often attended their neighborhood school, either public or private. This is certainly not the case in present time. A lot of my family and friends with children shopped around sort of speak to find the best place to enroll their children. I followed their lead. I searched for a school for about a year before deciding on St. Stan's. At St. Stan's I found EVERYTHING I wanted. A challenging academic environment, a welcoming community, a great principal and teachers, after school choices, diversity, etc. My daughter loves her school and is excelling in all her classes. I
We searched intensely for a PK3 program & managed to get on a few "wait lists" for CPS. We decided to go the private route & did many tours over many months. St. Stan's won us over! The principal genuinely showed her dedication even during the tour. The fact that you do not have to be a parishioner of the church to attend the school is a HUGE plus for us. We are Catholic, however, not practicing and did not want to commit to a parish at that time. Now that we are here, we are so happy. More importantly our preschooler is HAPPY! She LOVES her preschool teacher/aide and LOVES her new friends. We like the diversity of the class and all the parents are so friendly and involved; we really seem to work as a team to organize play dates & keep each other in the loop as to what is going on. The basis of the teaching is Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People which was our bible at work & teaching the kids to make "good choices" has worked so well. The after school care program is great too. We are truly blessed to have discovered St. Stan's & would recommend highly to everyone.
St. Stan's used to be a good school. Unfortunately the new administration has made changes that have been detrimental to the school. The current principal isn't a people person and her priority is fundraising rather than improving the failing curriculum. She never answers her phone nor does she reply to emails. There is no school spirit at St. Stans and the sense of community is lacking. Many of the students are below average and the principal doesn't provide the parents with the children's academic progress relative to state standards. Tuition and other miscellaneous fees have gone up but there haven't been any visible improvements. Everyone is charged a $200 book fee but the children in the upper grades have no text books - they get xerox copies of the texts.
St. Stans is a fantastic school. The new principal has made an enormous impact. I love the expectations. The children are getting a quality education but most of all the standards being set with all the new programs are wonderful. It is a very friendly atmosphere for everyone. Keep up the good work!
Great Job St. Stan's! I feel my children are getting a quality education in a safe environment. Very much like the changes and improvements made by the new principal. Yes... the tuition went up, but what hasn't - it is justified.
Most of the teachers are really good, but will subtly express unhappiness with the new principal and how they are treated. There is a great deal of focus on the younger children, while the older ones tend to be ignored. The new principal has eliminated with many of the programs that made the school unique and as parents, we find it difficult to justify the ever increasing cost of tuition. Bullying is not dealt with promptly, nor effectively. The many Title 1 students, especially those in the upper grades, dilute and detract from the learning experiences of the children that can speak and read English. There are several children in the upper grades that can barely read at all, in spite of the availability of help. It is not a school that fosters friendship or student creativity, as it did in previous years. Art class is spent listlessly trolling the Internet.
I went to St. Stan's as a child. And, I am proud that my son is now a student. The new principal has made a fantastic impact at St. Stan's- new curriculum, after-school activities, etc. I would not be surprised if there is a waiting list for St. Stan's within the next year.
