That 1 star is a review for the Englewood Campus. I don't know what goes on at the other campuses.

So far, so good! My son is a sophomore and we are very pleased with the course content and commitment we see from the faculty and staff. They are very well organized and so far safety has not been a concern. My son is a typical teen and posseses no significant behavior problem, so he has held his own at UP. I can see that kids who are struggling with the academics/behavioral expectations might be "counselled out." the school cannot maintain its reputation unless it is truthful about graduation and college admission rates. As a parent whose son is able to perform adequately at UP, I do not oppose their weeding out boys who cannot focus on the curriculum either academically or because of behavior concerns. It alters the classroom experience when students are troubled or not able to keep up with the curriculum and in frustration are disruptive. I do not know if that is their policy, but if so, it is not a setting that will be just right for every kid. I have an eighth grader who I am questioning his appropriateness to join his brother next year at UP.

Urban Prep is an excellent school for young African American men, who want to go on to a top college or university. My son went here for all four years and the experience was very challenging and rewarding. The courses were all college prep and the teachers were extremely helpful and engaging. My son participated in sports, clubs, had the opportunity to travel abroad to Spain and was accpeted to Cornell University on a full scholarship! Urban Prep is an excellent school for young men.

They couseled my child out of this school and now he goes to York! Why can this school pick and choose who they take while York has take on all comers? Maybeit is because they are so successful! Perhaps Urban Prep will open another campus over on the 2700 block of S. California. I'm sure they would have great success there!!
