Our child is in the options program at Beaubien, and has had some wonderful teachers. The academics are strong, but we would love to see more opportunites for activities such as gym, recess, and organized out-of-school activities. There are some wonderful family events, such as the arts night.
My children have been in both the neighborhood program, and the options program. Both are wonderful. The teachers are committed to providing a well rounded education. The PTO is great. Very dedicated to ensuring both the parents and teachers are heard.
Looking for a school that will instill a love of learning over grades and encourage questioning? Want a well rounded child who can occasionally play on a week night? Do both parents work fulltime and are not willing to send their child to Sylvan to keep up? Look elsewhere! The gifted program is merely accelerated and provides little actual enrichment. Creativity is not prized. There would be no Art at all if not for the PTA, they raise funds for a mere 7 lessons a year.Children in the primary grades are pressured. Expect at least 1 hour of homework in the 1st grade gifted program. Got to raise those ISAT scores, don't ya know and beat Bell. There are NO afterschool activities other than music lessons provided by an outside vendor. No recess. Gym once a week. Administration is inflexible.
I am so glad that the k, are learning so fast and well its a blessing. I thank almighty god for such teacher who do teach our children at beaubien elementary school.
Beaubien is a very good school with a team of many very committed teachers!
This is a great school. There was a remarkable change in my son when he entered this school in terms of study habits, discipline. The environment in this school is good for learning. It was such a difficult decision for us to relocate because we had to pull out our child from the program that was working very well for him. His teacher was very well organized. Her long terms plans for the children was very clear and and she knew how to keep them interested and eager to learn.
The school really needs to provide students with more extra curricular activities, especially for the older grades.
My son goes to Beaubien gifted program. We are very happy with the program, teachers and environment. The administration and teachers are very flexible, friendly and highly motivated. The students curriculum could be adjusted to individual needs. There is room for challenge, advancement, enrichment and fun. Great school!
