Marine Math and Science Academy (thats the new of the school now) is one of the best schools in the City of Chicago. Good environment for kids to make expected gains. One of the most improve schools in the City. Good staff and students. Parents need to volunteer at the school.

My daughter is a 2nd year cadet and I'm not impressed. The CPS leadership is non existent!! There is no accountability for the level of education the cadets are to receive. The Marine Corp component is very good, but if you want a college prep program, MMA isn't it. It's easy to out perform Crane, but it would be the parents hope to out perform Whitney Young. This is the only school in the CPS system that is on a 4x4 block schedule. That means that you condense 1 years worth of coureswork into 6 months. Arguably, our teenages don't have the attention span to sit in 1 class for 85 minutes and remember it all and barely have homework.

I think this is a good school iam a freshmen and i think that the education is better than something you will get at crane and the teachers do care about you. I think that this school is far more better than your regular neighborhood schools.

I am a parent and my son has been in this school for three years. I don't think this school is interested in education as much as they are interested in drafting new recruits to the military. They focus on military more so than education which is not the main purpose of school... It is suppose to be education! I really am looking to transfer him out as quickly as possible.

Compared to the local area school, this place is the Harvard of schools. People can complain all they want, but now is when the selective school campaign is coming in and I can already see the difference. My freshman son is far better off than his cousin who goes to Crane. You send a kid here, they start calling you sir. Kind of nice. The parents that I see complain, have no right, and should probably stop getting irate with the faculty and start getting jobs themselves. (unless you consider holding down their couches while watching Oprah and eating cheetos a job) I have always had a good experience there, and I am looking forward to the future.

I was disappointed by the school overall my son's freshman year. The lack of leadership made it difficult for the school and students to flourish. The curriculum was not what was promised when I enrolled my son. I enrolled him in a selective enrollment school in hopes that he would get a headstart on college enrollment and am seroiusly disappointed.

My children go to Marine Military Academy, and I have NOT been pleased with the education that they have received. The teachers and staff are NOT friendly, and they DON'T care about the students. Also, I DON'T feel safe sending my children there to be educated by people who need to get better education themselves.

I am a student and Marine Military Academy is not the best. The lunch stinks. Teachers don't know how to teach and the bathrooms smell and it is boring. The curriculum is horrible. It is not the best school. The administration does not know how to manage their money. You send your kids for a bad education. Send the kids to public school or college prep.
