Jose de Diego Community Academy is defiantly that the "Community." Our school is full of music, art and gifted programs. The grade school is very large since it used to be Tuley High School. Last spring, the Mayor and our 1st ward Alderman came to visit our beautiful school on our annual Clean Up Day! Come check us out!!

This school is a joke the teachers as well as administration are a joke. They don't care about the students or their concerns. It's practiaclly impossible to meet or talk with the priniciple or vice principle and when you do talk with the vice principle she is rude and acts like only she is correct. I'm gald my son is done with that school they did not prepare him for High school at all. The teachers are only concerned about getting paid. Run and take your child elsewhere.

We LOVE Diego School. The Asst Principal, Mrs. K is amazing. The staff is caring and very helpful. My girls are both in advance classes. My oldest daughter went to diego and just graduating from Walter Payton HS and now going to ISU. I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else but Diego.

There are very few opportunities for children at this school for them to explore areas that will allow them to excell in the competitive academic world we live in such as music or true partnerships with programs that can bring in better learning opportunities. Also the administration is very closed to parents.

I was very pleased working at De Diego. I got to see how the teacher act with the kids. They take their time to teach them and they are supportive. Even the prinicpal Mrs. Vera know how to control all her staff,keep the school clean. She welcome all the parent with open arm and a smile. She take time to heard what the parent have to say and the student too. She a great prinical. For me,the kids are very lucky been in De Diego.

I have two children at De Diego, a 3rd grader and 7th grader. They both have been their since Kindergarten. My oldest has type 1 diabetes and has been welcomed there with open arms from the 'get go'. All their teachers have been overly supportive of both my boys. The classrooms are fairly large but even so my children have academically developed well. My oldest is in advance studies and my youngest has had problems in reading but the school administration as well as his highly certified teacher have done wonders for him. So much that he has improved one grade and a half in less than a year. Overall, I believe the school does everything possible to nurture leaders.

I am very pleased with the decision I made. I recently removed my child from St. Helen's School and put him into Diego. Yes, a public school. that was my first thought. The moment I entered the school, I knew it was the perfect school. (Mother's extinct) When My husband and I entered the school we were immediately greeted and ask who we wanted to see. The school was filled with friendly faces. We then got a tour of each pre-k classroom. I was impressed with the literacy program and hoping for an available space. I thought to myself I am wasting time. He needs to enroll today. I did just that. He has been De Diego for one week and I can see the improvement. The structure in the classroom the teamwork. I feel a great deal of relief every morning.

i agree with kim's review. my child has an i.e.p as well and they do not do anything that their supposed to do reguarding it. also it seems as though the staff is there for money reasons only and not for the well being of the children. now that they have a new principal, there is no disciplinary actions taken and i fear for my children when they leave for school every morning.

I have heard many great things about this school. Caring teachers and good students. I enrolled my daughter in this school she is starting kinder and the staff was wonderfull; they were very friendly. I have my step son here in De Diego and he is on the honor roll. He loves it and my daughter is thrilled to be going to her big brother's school.
