My daughter attended Calhoun North from K-3rd grades. She enjoyed the learning enviornment, and the program is set up for the students to succeed. The school staff are goal focused, and challenge the students to exceed the standards, and my daughter developed in every area at Calhoun North (socially, academically, and personally). The school holds annual science, math, and literacy fairs, in which the neighborhood and community as a whole will participate. There are sponsors from a local childcare center, as well as students from a nearby University. Calhoun North is a great school for a child to learn and grow, the staff is dedicated to teaching, the class sizes are small, and the children are exceeding expectations.

My grandson was here in kindergarten for the 2006-2007 school year. The teacher he had was excellent. She really challenged him to excel in every area. They read several books and were required to know the title and author, as well as the main idea. They learned the dolch words and had to put them in a sentence and know their meaning. They were given homework every night in both math and reading. He is able to add subtract and do some multiplication. There were social studies and science projects they had to complete. I really feel that he received a well rounded curriculum and learned a lot. I have no doubt that he will excel even the more in first grade, as a result of what he learned in kindergarten. They had gym twice weekly and the parent involvement is great.
