The new (2009) school, on Lexington Avenue, is built 1300 ft next to a dump. Since the beginning of the school year children have been exposed to a variety of toxic/poisonous gases. The staff was well aware of the toxic gases being emitted since the first day of school.(Windows on the south side of the school are sealed shut.)The "rotten egg" smell, H2S was present almost daily. I would grade Cortland School/staff with an "F" for Failure. Staff involvement would have had the school tested sooner. The school was tested in the spring and tested positve for H2S on June 2010. The school is toxic.Keep Out.

It's a neat and clean school where the teachers and parents obviously care about the kids and their surroundings.

As a parent I am very satisfied with the school. The teacher's for the most part seem to be wonderful and nuturing to the children. My husband & I are glad we choose to live in a small town with such a close community and small school.

What a wonderful Small school with the best of the best. Great friendly teachers willing to take the extra time with your children. Mr. Fullerton (our Principal) is wonderful and was given the districts highest award this year. Thank you to all the staff and wonderful teachers involved. We also have tremendous amount a Parental support. Our PTA does so much to help the school.
