My grandaughter just completed the kindergarten class at Sykuta.. Her parents and I are very satisfied with the academics, discipline and safety of the children. The teachers are doing an excellent job; the office staff is very courteous and professional and the administrators (principal and assistant principal are doing an excellent job of overseeing the school.
I was very disappointed with this school. My child attended this school and was often hurt in their overcrowded, under supervised gymnasium. I am an active parent and when I made attempts to investigate the incidents, I was asked which one is your child? (How many other kids got hurt today), or I received statements that minimized the incidents oh she s o.k. mom or comments we always welcome parent volunteers . To think my child can t be safe at a school unless I am there to watch over them. The academics were average, parent involvement almost invisible, and increased class sizes were handled inappropriately. If you care about your child s safety and education-don t allow them to attend Sykuta Elementary. They need much improvement.

I have two children that attend this school. The school is very big on safety and I receive monthly updates as to how my children are doing in school and if there are any concerns. My 2nd grader is progressing well.

I am very satisfied with the academic experiences my kids are having at the Sykuta School. I have two daughters attending Sykuta one will be moving to 3rd grade and the other will continue in Sykuta to 1st grade, they are both doing great. The success of these kids are because of the fine academic program in Sykuta, the teachers, the efforts and discipline we impart on our kids at home. Parents must devote quality time with their kids and make sure their home works are done everyday. That's how we were able to keep our daughters in line and their grades constantly up......

i think it is ok, teacher should not be very dramatic with the children. they are just children as we do understand,

I am very disappointed with the academic experience my child had at the Sykuta school. The program was not challenging, and the level of communication which exists amongst the teachers, administration and parents is not only unacceptable, but detrimental to the overall development of our children. In my opinion, there should be a complete overhaul of administrators. Our children deserve better!!!!!

I have a son in Kindergarten and he is doing great. His teacher is wonderful and she genuinely cares about his well being. I am there everyday to pick him up. I or my husband speak to the teacher daily about his progress. If the parents are really involved it makes a huge difference because the teachers see that this parent cares and we have high expectations. I am pleased. He reads well and writes well. He has weekly spelling tests and he aces them. I work with him daily to see what he is learning and story time is imperative.

Principal only cares about her appearance. If she does not have the do the work she is happy. School could be much better with a principal that will really work not one that pretends to work and then complains. No music or art. Many of the students are behavioral problems that do not live in the district but the school allows them in. For the most part the teachers are great (you always have a few that could care less). I will warn you that near the end of the year teachers appear to be extrememly stressed from lack of support. If you chld is in the special education area don't look for much assistance. My child rarely saw the special aide teacher or speech teacher.

Don't know if I'd go so far to say that the school is a well ran facility, considering the running, and swearing by these young children that I observed once during the lunch hour startled me. However, I must admit that the overall quality is not as bad as that of the other school in this district that my other child is in. But then again the children that attend this school are practically babies. One would hope that a school is competent enough to handle teaching children at this age. Having a special needs child enrolled here has been a bit of a headache. I don't see any marked improvement in my child's academic success since last year. If I had another option for my child's education, I would explore it without blinking!

This school is a well ran facility. The Teachers are friendly and seem truly interested in helping each child. One would be surprised about how much these children have learned and how positive the children are about going to school and meeting the challenges. It has not always been at the level it is now. I credit the schools sucess to the present principal and the one she replaced. Those two individuals are execellent administrators. Hint to the Board: A candidate does not need a Doctorate Degree to get the job done.
