The staff is young and enthusiastic. They are constantly trying to grow the school. Teachers are open for questions and most often willing to provide extra help for students. That being said, these students must actively ask questions and get involved. The sports, although co-oped sports, still provide students the opportunity to play.

As a present student at deland Weldon I am shocked at the the quality of teaching, yes it may be a small school and you may get more attention but its not always good. a students last name usually plays part in how they are treated. the school dosent offer many sports and the sports they do offer are often co-op. when you co-op you normally have to drive for a good thirty minuates to the school and then barely get played cause of the schools name. ive also witnessed teacher bullying towards students, this is one major problem that has gone on for far to long. so unless you have to move here or go to this school I would highly not recommend it.

Very poor with fighting bulling, its outragous here. Brian is never challenged only questioned every few months. Teaching is far behind on standards, school doesn't like or want to obide by state law. Popularity runs students, teachers and school. That and wealth with parents who are either on the school board or who threaten teachers and coaches. If possible I would advise parents to steer clear of thos school(the people who give goog reviews for this school are the popular or rich kids and parents. School needs work on challenging the minds of students and see the different types of learning each student has rather than traditional teaching habits.

Due to its small size, DeLand-Weldon offers outstanding one-on-one attention between it's students and teachers. Academically, their students are performing average or higher compared to other surrounding schools. Morally, this school is greater than any other in the area. DeLand-Weldon offers everything a student needs course wise. They offer all core subjects as well as other minor subjects. If DeLand-Weldon does not offer a sport, they most likely co-op the sport with a surrounding school. Their co-ops include: Football, Baseball, Softball, Golf, and Cross Country. Over all, this is an outstanding school district and community. Everyone in both communities are vary proud of their student's accomplishments.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Illinois used the Prairie State Achievement Examination (PSAE) to test students in grade 11 in reading, math and science. The PSAE is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Illinois State Board of Education. If there are a small number of students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
