When my child had her fifth birthday, we knew it was time to move to Auburn so that she would be enrolled in the Auburn School system. She is now in Auburn Middle School and the quality of education she is receiving is superior. All teachers in the system have a consistently high level of expectation for all students and are continually encouraged to perform at their best. As a teacher myself in a nearby school system, I can honestly say that Auburn teachers work hard to educate every student. My child has been offered opportunities for sports, scouts, art lessons, music lessons, and many other extracurricular activities through both the school as well as other agencies who use the school as a means of 'getting their message out'. If you are someone looking for a good community with fabulous schools, Auburn is everything you wish for.

I find there is a void in the communication department. Often news does not make it home to parents.

I have had three students who attended the Auburn Middle School and found that the teachers do not want to be bothered with students that do not conform to their limited view of how a student of this age should perform academically or socially. Children with behavioral or academic problems are brushed to the side or ostricized creating a low self-esteem on the part of the student. Every student is expected to perform within the 'box'. Students with outstanding academic abilities are not given the opportunity to expand their knowledge. Administation officials stated that by encouraging 'gifted' students with special programs it would make the average student feel deprived of the opportunity.
