My children are former students of Berger-Vandenberg. My experience was very disappointing. My children were from an excellent school district. I moved into Vandenberg's district. The quality of their academic program is very poor. My daughter was in the second grade. The work given was on a kindergarten level. I was in disbelief.I am happy to say I was able to transfer out of the school.

Berger is a great school. This school is very small personable. They had a great principle that cared a lot about the school and more important about the children. The teachers are always there for the children. Even though schools have their ups and down Berger has been a great school and it will be hard for my children to leave because they have enjoyed the past three years at Berger.

My children are currently at Berger. I think those who do not or did not have good things to say should have been more involved ar should get involved with the school and teachers. Today it is all about the parents too. The teachers are there to teach and not babysit. This is a wonderful school with great teachers and principle (Mr. Bennett currently pasted on April 29,2006). They have npw a good asst principle Mrs D. Jones. If you are a parent ask yourself is your kid there for day care or to learn. Are you up to the school talking to the teachers? I wish it went to 8th grade.

Berger Vandenberg is a small school that provides education to a small area in Dolton. It is nice that the children can walk to school and know each other because it is a small school. Academic quality really depends on the teachers you get...some are Great..Mrs. Lewis(no longer there)...Mrs. Parks...Mrs. Vasquez were wonderful teachers...my children ended up getting more bad teachers than good ones at Berger. The art teacher was new and innovative but the district lacks funds so they don't have many programs. The music program is the only thing worth anything and the district is slowly killing it. Mr. Brath really goes above and beyond for the whole district in Music. He travels to each school plus he is the band teacher at the local middle school and he makes many sacrifices to keep the band going. That is all dist149 has.

I would not recommend this school to anyone. There have been several letters sent home saying the teachers they have on staff teaching our children are not qualified. My child learned more in kindergarten than the she did this year and two years ago at this school. The only reason my child is here is because of my financial situation. It is unfair for our children to suffer like this. Classrooms are too large. Teachers don't have control of students. Procedures don't show any uniformity. -Unhappy

I like that it is a small school that serves a small community. Uniforms were a good idea also. I feel that the school needs more funding and that more acedemic as well as extracurricular activities should be provided for the children. Where are the field trips and other learning experiences. School is no longer fun and interesting for my children, although my children do well in school they are bored. Some of the teachers are great and some are so so.

My children are doing well at this school. They had high ISATt test scores and I beleive the teachers are doing a great job. Love the uniform idea.
