This school has both good and bad qualities among staff and children as with many elementary schools.

Posted May 6, 2010

The teachers are diligent, hard-working and love children. The principal is very supportive of the students, staff and community. It is a happy, positive learning environment. Parents are welcome and encouraged to participate in their student's learning. We are a diverse population so we recognize many different cultures.

This is an excellent school. My daughter was in private school and Hillcrest is superior by far. The best teachers and staff. The principal is one of the best in the business. First rate. I can not say enough good about this school.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Illinois used the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 4 and 7 in science. The ISAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
