I am a senior at East Side and its not as bad as it seems. The problem is that teachers are giving up. All the teachers say is "no matter what you do ill still get a paycheck"...thats where the problem starts. The students only do what the staff let them do. It is coming to a change but only slowly. -Class of 2012
i have been at east.st.louis senior high school for 4years and so far its not a bad school its just alot of fightinq maybe if they stop fightinq it would be a better school...lovinq da life...
As both parent & teacher, I have seen a lot of issues dealt with from both sides. I can say this, the problems that arise stem from two things...no parental involvement & politics. Maybe if the actual education of all students was considered, we'd be ok.
This is my 3rd yr in the school and yet the years get worst. They now have a new policy for juniors. If you don't pass the PSAE, you will not receive your diploma when you walk across the stage. you will only receive certificate of attendence. And you will only hav 4 years in the school. If you don't have all your credits and your 4th year went by, you will no longer go to the school again.
I think East Side is an out of control school. The teacher nor the principal have control over the school. The kids walk the halls after the bell ring be late for class .They should have kept the Lincoln high school and not combine those school together thats was a big mistake.
I currently attend East St.Louis Senior High School. I have been going here for three years now and East Side is a good school. The media make this school look bad.
For 1 this is a great school. The parents always talk about what's wrong with the school they never talk about the good things that come from the school. They never talk about how the school is trying to keep us teens off the streets. This year the even added an extra sport to the extra curriculums. Now i dont see any reviews about that. Now i am sick and tired of people always putting our school down. I am proud of where i am from and what i have accomplished from East Saint Louis Senior High School. I think if people don't want their kids to be influenced by this kind of behavior they should not send them there. They know what they are putting there kids in when they enroll them. This really makes me mad when I hear our own parents putting our school down.
I am at East Side everyday and the parent principal involvement is poor. PTA information is poor. Where is the school song? It use to be mandatory for us to sing the school song at every assembly, game, or any function. I always see the boys wearing their pants off of their butts. I also think that some of the girl wear their skirts too short. No wonder the kids can't concentrate on school work. These are some of the bad things that I see. There are still a lot of positive things that go on at the school.
I previously attended East St Louis High school, my freshmen, sophmore, and beginning of my Junior year. I'm currently in my senior year attending Lincoln High School in SD for better chances at college acceptance. I was placed in Honors so, my teachers were great at teaching about many aspects of life. Not, all were as compassionate about there jobs, some would work with you untill you understood, while others probably cared less if you even came to class. When telling students or teachers that I went to E side High they immediately go to the negative. The education mentality of teachers and students has sadly diminished in the years. Education, no longer the main objective of school, it seems as their focas on disapline.
I attend this school for 4 years of my life and it was not bad it was school. Of course bad things happened but bad things happen at every school.I did good at school, and in my studies also. It was just highschool and all the pressure and stress that comes with it. It was just LIFE!
