Dunbar Elementary should be considered an academy. The children are never out of control. They are well behaved and very smart. The teachers do an excellent job. The principal is one of the best principals I have ever seen. She's compassionate, educated and the children, teachers, parents and community love her. She's all about educated the children. I recommend this school to anyone who wants to prepare their child for high school.

Dunbar has been the best school in District 189 for many years. It is known to most people as the University in the district. When my husband and I decided on a school for our second grader we turned to Dunbar hoping that it would live up to its nickname. In some cases it has but overall I believe it's loosing something. I attended our first P.T.A. meeting the other day, I believe it was probably ten (10) parents at the most at the meeting. Parents where are you at. You want the teachers to work miracles everyday, you send your children without any training and you want the teachers to raise them and teach them. Let's do our part as parents and let the teachers do their part and watch how our children soar. Remember, we are eagles and we soar higher than any other known bird.
