I am a former student of this school, and now just the name makes me sad inside. This school ruined four years of my life.

Sent my daughter there for 4 years and couldn't have been any happier.. not only for the educational teaching she got, but most importantly for the good Christian Lutheran religion teaching she received. It has greatly increased her faith. By having such a good, teaching staff. That were an inspiration to her.

I also am a 2008 graduate of MELHS and I do not regret my experience there. It is a sound school that prioritizes the needs of the student first, even when the students may not see it that way. MELHS offers a challenging curriculum that will prepare the students, but at times it appears that certain teachers work with students that care about the subject as opposed to reaching out to the lesser interested to succeed. The smaller environment allows for individuals to participate in activities such as theater and sports, and with many qualified coaches, the Knights always seem to be competitive in just about every sport. For the most part, the social environment is very open and friendly, however, like other small schools, a select few may be snobbish. Overall, this is a very good school with room for growth.

I am a 2008 graduate of Metro East Lutheran High School and I absolutely loved going there for high school. I played sports all four years that I was there and I had great teachers and coaches. The closeness you get while attending is second to none. I recommend MELHS to any parent looking for a great Christian environment for their children to grow and prosper in. Go Knights!

I attended MELHS and it was sub-par in preparing for a college setting.

As a French exchange student in 2004/05, I have appreciated the classes and teachers I had at Metro-East Lutheran High School. I was welcomed in the best conditions by all the staff and students. This experience would not have been the same in any other High School.

I have sent two children to MELHS. I love the school and the Christ oriented message they get on a daily basis. It has been a wonderful experience for our family. The school is college prep all the way. Our daughter was able to attend a top Big 10 university and is excelling with the background she recieved at MELHS. Our son has enjoyed the opportunitiy to play sports when he may not have had the chance at a bigger school. The kids that attend MELHS are the best.

I love MELHS! I've only been going here for a semester, and it's one of the most positive experiences I've ever had. The teachers are extraordinary! The chemistry/pre-cal/physics teacher has an exceptional education, and the senior religion teacher/guidance counselor just received an award, from the college he graduated from, that names him as the best teacher in the nation! I think that just goes to show how great the staff at MELHS is. It is true that students have complaints about some of their teachers, but that's true at every school. It is also true that students have problems with cliques and things like that, but you find me a school that doesn't have clique problems, and I'll go there. Overall, MELHS has the same problems as any other school, and most of the students will admit that beneath all of its problems, MELHS is a superb school.

Lutheran High left me with some of the greatest days of my life. Sure the hallways may seem small, but it is hardly a reason for the students to get tardies. In my four years going there, they increased the time for passing periods giving the students more time to get to each classes, along with stopping at their locker for books, and even a quick conversation, and I never once was tardy for class. The teachers care for the students, how they do in classes and in their spiritual lives, and that carries over to after they graduate. Going back after for a basketball game, everyone welcomes you with open arms. I would have to say Lutheran High is an excellent school and whether involved in sports, choir, or student council (all of which I was involved in) you will get a great experience with Christ at the center, which is the most important thing.

I believe that MELHS is a great fit for my son. I think it is a great alternative to his other option which would have been Edwardsville High School which is busting at at the seams with 2300 kids. There are some fantastic Christian teachers and coaches but there are also some subpar teachers. It is not a perfect school but I have not seen one that is. The thing I like best about MELHS is the kids that attend there, they are basically a great bunch of kids. Everyone, Freshman to Seniors seems to get along and have fun together while learning, there does not appear to be the division you see in most schools.
