As a parent who transferred children here, I can compare EPG to another school. There is no comparison in the dedication of many of the teachers here. Ms. Throneburg does a great job leading the school. I am satisfied with our choice to move here from a larger town.
The coaches are terrible coaches and worse teachers, especially in football and boys basketball. The school is old and the auditorium is terrible and falling apart. Their moto is pursing excellence, but I personally feel they should try to pursue being average because they aren't even close to average right now. Their college readiness is 42%!!!!! That makes EPG at the bottom of the standings in the conference and the top schools in the conference have around 65%. The numbers speak for themselves, EPG is a terrible school.
I just watched on video a 13 year old getting beaten by other kids continually while the bus driver watched and did nothing. This poor kid was bullied and when the parents went to the school they were told "snitches get stitches". NOT OK. UNACCEPTABLE.
El Paso-Gridley High School is a great school that puts the students first. It's a safe atmosphere where you know that the teachers care for you. I'm an alum of the school and am glad that I got to grow up in a smaller school district where I could find caring friends in the teachers as well as the other students. (Not to say that being friends with teachers will get you out of trouble. =0 )
