My husband I have been thrilled with Fox River Country Day School. Our daughter enrolled in Pre-School at 3 and is now entering 4th grade. We've loved the care and individualized attention the children receive and that there is such a diverse group of students and teachers. Our daughter has learned so much from the environmental education classes that explore the 50+acre forested fen that surrounds the school. The school has supported her love for reading and has encouraged her in her less favorite subjects equally She really loves her fun and exciting teacher. She is thriving in her academics as well as her character development and social skills, the latter of which is especially important for an only child. We are also thrilled to have the opportunity for music, swimming and art classes incorporated into the program. We can't imagine a better learning environment!
We were looking for an alternative to the overcrowded public middle schools in our area. Fox River Country Day School was the perfect answer! Its 57 acre campus is beautiful and serene, the student-teacher ratio is ideal, and the individualized attention given in each grade is just not available within a public school system. The middle school is comprised of diverse, intelligent, and caring students who are passionate about academics, the environment, and global issues. They will be twenty-first century leaders! GO HAWKS!
My kids have been at FRCDS for 4 years and we can't imagine sending them anywhere else!! Great education in a comfortable home like environment! The focus is on the whole child which has enabled my children to grow beyond where I thought they would be at this point in their lives!
I had looked for a school for four years when I finally found Fox River Country Day School. I was thrilled that the school had so many options for working parents with a before-care and after-care program' (7:00 am 5:30 pm). My daughter is now in Kindergarten and loves the home-like environment with her diverse group of classmates. She looks forward to her weekly environmental education class with one of the campus naturalists to learn about the 53-acre wooded Illinois Natural Heritage Landmark where the campus is located. She really loves her fun and exciting teachers and looks forward to her weekly swim class. Next year, she will walk to the Bates Art Center building where Mr. Honey teaches. He loves the kids and the kids love him. She is very excited to be in her first musical next year with the energetic music teacher, Ms. Spears. We love FRCDS!
There are many, many wonderful things to say about the Fox River Country Day School, but I'll keep my review focused on what my children love the most - the beautiful, 53 acre wooded campus - perfect for exploring the wonders of Mother Nature, with it's trails, streams, ponds, fens, and other rare ecosystems. They love learning about the flora and fauna native to our area. If there are parents out there who feel that it is important for their kids to grow up and have respect for the environment and to learn how important it is to advance sustainability on behalf of our world, then you owe it to yourself to check out this school.
We love the differentiated teaching so no one is left behind or held back. The enrichment activities such as fall team-building at an outdoor camp in Mich. and spring trips for middle-schoolers are a big hit with my child. She also loves getting outside between classes since there are several buildings for different classes. The lunch that is served is rated well. A rich cultural diversity allows the kids to grow socially.
My daughter is in Kindergarten now. She went there for preschool 3 and preschool 4. We love the school. It s 53-acre campus is wonderful for outside playtime, recess and offcourse snow sleding in winter. The class size is small and teachers are excellent. Diverse student population and home-like environment is a added value. Kindergarten is full day class which includes art, music, swimming, physical education, environment education. They also have campus alive after school programs for additional fees which pretty much cover all the extra activity a kid may need. School has before and after care with childcare during school holidays and summer for working parents. The Kindergarten program also includes hot lunch healthy lunch in the cafeteria at school. School curriculum is value based and focused on overall development of the child.
Fox River has more to offer than you could imagine! Set on a 53 acre campus- a beautiful outdoor classroom- it has academics, ethics, a loving staff, and all the extras like swimming, art, music and drama, a wonderful environmental program, community service- the list just keeps going! TOTALLY worth the price of tuition!
It has a beautiful campus, great teachers, environmental education, strong emphasis on character. Love it!
Fox River Country Day School is the school of my dreams. My only wish is that a school such as this was available to my parents when I was grade school age. All of the teachers are exceptional; from pre-k through 8th. Matched very wonderfully by the well rounded academic, athletic, environmental education and music/ drama programs, your child will develop and progress beyond your imagination. The teachers and staff are all personable, knowledgeable and well-respected in the community. Visit the campus and you'll understand what words cannot convey!!
